That seems like a lot of work to make the tape lay just right - especially considering painter's tape is a bit finicky. Maybe she used the green tape which has more stick to it. I often find that spray painting paper with metallic doesn't look very shiny and lustrous in the end and I wonder if this will keep its sheen. I guess I don't see spray paint being that permanent? Gold leaf would probably be my vote if you're wanting texture and shine. $5 DIY: Dress Up Your Frames with Tape A Thoughtful Place |

I'd love to see what they did with the top - is that where the faux metal finish is? Before & After: Anthropologie Inspired Dresser craftaholics anonymous |

I don't understand why this photo is so blurry. get maybe wanting to blur out the people in the mirror, but this is a bit much. I love the look..or at least the maybe foot of horizontal space that I can see clearly. I'm noticing this a lot on here, and these shots along with instagram shots are not super helpful. I don't understand why people think the colors have been altered. It looks like natural light to me. There are cool grays and ambers - so it doesn't look sepia-ed and if you look, it doesn't seem like anything is even a candidate for "hidden" colors. It's all black, white, wood, gray, amber, etc. Mel's Complete & Balanced Small Cool Contest |

I think both look a bit sad, actually. The before was washed out, but even if it hadn't been the colors in front seem dark and the green not particularly happy. The after is fine. I love the detail work and I think those shades of blue shine at the top and with the gold accents. I don't think it needs fuchsia, but maybe a happier blue? Something for contrast other than white? The job looks so well done and you can tell they had professionals, but I don't know if I would have chosen the same color expert as the 80s job. Before & After: Painting a San Francisco Victorian |

Yeah, honestly books don't have to be that old to have a gorgeous look and many more books than we'd like to admit are just not that great. Just because they were printed doesn't mean they were worth the trees in the first place, or that they haven't become outdated and useless. There is a lot of bad fiction out there and a ton of old science texts and mechanical books that are of no use to anyone. Covers are torn and corroded, pages are yellowed and falling apart. But they do have interesting drawings and a fabulous texture. I think it's part of celebrating print to reuse it in a new way. Yes or No? DIY Projects Made From Vintage Books |

I agree that this is pretty much now an advertisement for Behr paint. The Crazy Colorful $16 Stairway Makeover Cozy Little Cave |
