And I'm thinking that the before photo of the kitchen was indeed 9 years ago but for $200 a new floor and a coat of paint was a make due improvement 8 1/2 years ago. That picture was not taken right before renovation is my guess. Before & After: Updating a Victorian Kitchen (and Bathroom) |

My mother gutted her grandmother's kitchen in the 90's....I took all the doorfronts and drawers and use them around the house as table tops and storage bins...have been getting compliments on them for years. This kitchen was a mess but she could have found true vintage cabinets. Before & After: Updating a Victorian Kitchen (and Bathroom) |

I love the wallpaper...but I have to agree with another poster: The original cabinets although dated, are of better quality than the new. Before & After Kitchen Remodel: Keeping the Best of the Past |

It seems to be a little dry looking...it could use a weekly rubbing of oil. Nice job...stripping furniture was my uncle's business in the 1960's. A young girl worked with him for free and would bring in what we now call "curbies" and remove the paint ; revealing antiques from the 1800's. Applying oil after chemical process restores the patina. Well I have to agree with Annie-O about the OCD factor....although I noticed right away the 5th lavender shirt from the right has cuffs that don't seem to fit the space....I have both ADD and OCD...my closets will never be so organized. Setting Up Home: 5 Sources for Closet Organizing Solutions |

I used to use a giant magnet on my belt for work (for pins) and found on a cross country trip to L.A. that my credit and debit cards were useless....but that was years ago. Weekend Project: Magnetic MakeUp Board Laura Thoughts |

Beautiful. The lines of the piece are wonderful. Very lucky find. What kind of stripper did you use? I once used one called Saftest Stripper that stayed gooey for 24 hours and was great for carvings because it could be hosed off and had no fumes...I don't think they make it anymore. And some one told me I didn't have room for a baby grand...I'm going for it. And my dining room table looks pretty much like that everyday, too. Another "non-cooking" household. Living in a Jewel Box: Bill & Richard's Gorgeously Grand Small Space House Beautiful |

Thought there were 2 different desks being refinished...didn't like the "refinished" version. These desks are not a dime a dozen like one poster stated...they were broken up for fire wood when the "lovely" laminated desks took over.
