Another vote for wide mouth mason jars! We have a variety of sizes, from large for bulk goods to small for leftovers and such. Added benefit is that we got a food saver with a mason jar adapter so we can seal extra bulk goods up and they last practically forever! Solves the "what to put in that useless space above the kitchen cabinets" problem - pretty jars of rice, beans, flour, dried fruit - and we save tons by buying in bulk.

Activated charcoal. Best deodorizer ever. Works like baking soda in your fridge, but more effective. I bought a huge bottle at the aquarium store and put it in fine mesh bags by the cat box and in the fridge and it has helped immensely. And chusmabilly, I hate the "chemical toilet" smell of clean cat litter too. I switched to unscented feline pine scoop, and it is much better! Smells like sawdust instead of nasty fake "clean".

Favorite color? All of them, perhaps! :)

Oh yippee--you're bedroom wall color looks like the one I'm considering and based on how nice yours looks I'm no longer scared it will be to bright! Off to buy paint....

I love love love this space! Way to be fearless and fun! It makes me happy just looking at it, so it must be a very happy place to live.

Unfortunately, rearranging won't work as the boy insists the couch faces the giant TV (which is situated about where I took the picture from) and there is the fireplace to contend with. But I love the ideas you gave, like the slim tables and using picture lighting or shelves, and those can lights are cool (why haven't I seen those before!). You guys rock!

PS-Marid22, the sectional is from Carolina Chair. The only place in the world to get a small scale sectional, I think! :)
