I saw that same teal chair in Portland, OR for $40. I regret not buying it.

I use lemons and salt to polish copper bottom pots and pans. As for canning jars, I just bought some old blue Ball jars and used them to store Epsom salt and cotton balls in my bathroom. The blue jars look nice against white walls.

Your place is amazing. Each room invites you to come in and relax. Like you, I also incorporate old signs, letters/numbers, and other general antiques in my decor. I loved the pillow made from a coffee bean sack.

Way to represent Austin! It's funny... the whole city feels like cookie cutter apartment after cookie cutter apartment. But you guys found a jewel of a place and fixed it up nicely. I think my heart would pitter-patter even more if I knew this place was located right off of Lamar or on a sleepy street off of South Congress.

I love your apartment. It looks like both of our Portland apartments have the same issue: poor kitchen drawer tracking. One of the quirks with living in these old (read: awesome) apartments.

I love playing Backgammon. Learned how to play on a Turkish one that had mother of pearl inlay. So beautiful. I really should buy a nice board. Right now I have a cheap wood board I found at Target. It's a functional decoration on my coffee table that holds a couple of remotes and my Boston coasters from BostonCoasters.com

This is awesome. I'm not color shy. It's just that I'm not allowed to paint my walls in my apartment. Yes, I've thought about moving but bottom line, it's a great apartment in a great neighborhood. So why move?

My whole apartment is decorated in the stuff that reminds me of the three states I've lived in: Texas, Massachusetts, and Oregon.
living room: has framed Boston & Portland maps, Boston coasters from BostonCoasters.com, Harpoon IPA tap handle, and a picture of Boston at night that was taken from Cambridge.
dining room: is called the "Flag Room" because I have flags from each state in there (including my college). There's also a map of Mt. Hood and Cambridge in there
kitchen: has old Red Sox pennants, a Texas Rangers World Series flag, my "Hillary '08" sign from when I was in Texas, and some old Portland street signs
bedroom: two framed pictures of Boston and pictures of my family (Texas)

I bought an olive green one and crimson one today at Andy & Bax in Portland, OR. They're going to look good on my bed.

I love this! I used to live in the South End in a rowhouse that had not been remodeled in years. We had exposed wiring, original wallpaper in the bathroom and lots of other "originals". It is still my most memorable apartment.

I recently made my own headboard out of a long cabinet door from the AS-IS section at Ikea. I bolted it to 2x4's and bolted those to my bed frame. It was a $25 project.
