the microfibre dishcloths are good and we use it for everything fore a few days and then chuck it in the wash and grab a new one.
Cloths can't be hidden in cupboards! they need to dry in the open hanging otherwise you will have a disgusting mouldy cloth. if you don't like clutter on your bench then cloths probably aren't ok. Me I don't care, it can just add to the drying rack, cups, tomatoes, dish liquid and hand soap that sit on my sill.

You would hope that people who choose to live in small shared spaces would be a bit more considerate of those around them and like wise show a bit compassion to those when they need it. My experience with neighbours has not been particularly great. Lived in a triplex with god awful neighbours that alternated between screaming matches and then making up that was just as loud. It seems to be a symptom of suburbia lack of consideration and compassion. I now don't even live "duplex close" neighbourhood and can't believe how inconsiderate my neighbours on all but one side are. You need very special people to live closely with. Clearly I haven't found em.

Meat bones - if I buy the meat on the bones I cut the bones out before we cook it and give them to the dogs. Agree with greenish Dogs shouldn't eat cooked bones, they can splinter and cause expensive internal damage.
@fillie Wood and paper based cat litters can be used to mulch garden beds.
We have been using 'biodegradable' bags to line the bin.I am inspired to add some more bins to my under sink area!
@SarahHeartBurn - lie the bin with newspaper. Its what the old folks did before plastic bags.
