I don't get the obsession with putting so many layers on the bed or placing the blankets a special way. Especially so many pillows of different sizes, which then aren't used anyway, just for decoration. I mean, who cares? It's your bedroom! You don't even have to make the bed.

How effective can acupuncture be if studies have shown that it doesn't matter WHERE you place the needles for the patient to feel "relieved"?

"It does not make any difference where you put the needles or whether you use needles at all. Touching the skin with toothpicks works just as well. The crucial factor seems to be whether patients believe they are getting true acupuncture. It is becoming increasingly clear that the surrounding ritual, the beliefs of patient and practitioner, and the nonspecific effects of treatment are likely responsible for any reported benefits."

On to look at the furniture and tattoos ("surrounding ritual")...

Also, there are studies which show that if you're afraid that EMF might affect you, you might experience symptoms. However, these are anxiety symptoms. It's interesting how they are different in different countries. In Austria they tend to be stuff like headaches, in Spain, skin rashes.

Lilli K., I'm in the middle of an all-nighter, so can't read the article, but I took a look at it. As to the studies, your information is not correct. Consider reading this article:

"The rector of the Medical University of Vienna, Wolfgang Schütz, has asked researchers at his university to withdraw their two publications based on faked data supposedly showing that electromagnetic radiation from mobile phones causes DNA breakage in human tissue cells.

The study had caused considerable public concern about the health risks from mobile phones. In a statement the university says that a laboratory technician from the department of occupational medicine has since confessed that she fabricated the data."

As to the article you posted, even at a glance you can see the typical false assumptions commonly made. The truth is that the radiation DECREASES as you move towards the transmission tower. I have my information from a scientist and university professor who specialises in these things. I am a member of a society for critical thinking, where we often discuss such topics.

You could glue flat magnets to the bottoms and place the upside down on some shelves or vertically on a wall (with sheet metal). I would also use coloured lighting to play with the reflections and shades. They could even cast huge shadows on the opposite wall, which would look very interesting.

Climb down from the fence. Cell phone radiation is far below the limits. Please don't give a forum for this kind of anti-scientific stuff.

I think the most important thing to realise is that there is no energy to get rid of. The sooner you realise this, the better in the long run. If you are in the mindset that there is such a thing then it will haunt you everywhere. When in reality it's all in your mind, so your mind is what you have to do something about. Read about psychology (like psychologytoday or "this column will change your life"), this will give you good ideas. I don't know where you read about this ritual, but there is a chance that it has a lot more unsubstantiated information like that. Read more on that and you'll soon be spending money on psychics etc. So it's better to realise that there is only reality and you have to deal with it. It's empowering!

Maybe it's a bit unrelated, but I just signed up and wanted to share something I found interesting when researching furniture for my new apartment. Maybe you could use it as an idea for an article.

I followed a link to cb2 and came across a shelf that costs almost 120 euros. It has raving reviews, apparently all from people who bought the shelf from this site and paid the price. Everyone seems very proud to have made such an investment, and it's funny, because I am getting this same shelf for 49,90 euros from the furniture store Leiner here in Vienna, Austria.

During my research on different Austrian websites I found similar cases, where the same thing is called a different name and sold for a much higher price which puts it in an entirely different price category. For example, here, where the price difference is 249 vs. 169 euros! And there are many more examples like that, I come across them all the time, since I'm researching for my new apartment on a very limited budget.

Also, in Austria there are furniture stores which are part of one group. Many of the articles they sell are the same, but the more expensive stores sell them for a higher price or label them as special-offer prices, whereas you could get the same thing much cheaper if you would go inside the "cheap junk" store.
