@HeraHere: We have a telescoping light-bulb changer. Haven't had to change a light yet. We rarely use the overheads in the living room (plenty of light in the day... and kitchen lighting at night.

@studies in life: Thanks! The crib and changing table sheets are Owls by Dwell Studio. The framed prints on the wall are by Yee-Haw Industries and were purchased through Etsy.

House Tour

Hello. Roy here (one of the homeowners)... big thanks to everyone for the kind words! We're glad others seem to enjoy our casa as much as we do.

For those looking for a more information on finishes, materials, etc. Liane and I maintained a blog during most of the construction process (warning: it's been a while since the last update). You can find it at http://1133sc.wordpress.com

As well, shots of the exterior, are available at http://greenbottleworkshop.com/Projects.htm

Now, for answers to some of the questions...

@ck8g0: Our design and construction budget was $200K... with no substantial overages. Incidentally, the average house price in this neighborhood is $255K - $350K (out of our price range). During our search, we looked at several MCM houses throughout Birmingham that were at $200K or above and needed significant renovation.

@en_la_bici: The front entrance door is custom -- designed and built by the architects. The towel rack in the guest bedroom is Tom Dixon's Wire Coatrack purchased from Design Within Reach.

@medusa12120: The "black panel" over the baby's crib is a pivot panel that opens to the living room space below (it has a steel pin firmly locking it place for safety!).

@burnttoast: That's Will. One of the architects. And he's a popular guy.

@hanson and chaotic: The floor is Supreme Bamboo from Lumber Liquidators.

@CapitalDigs: Olympic SW6944, Interior/Latex/Eggshell. We took a Sherwin Williams swatch (Pool Blue) to Lowe's and had them match it. It's very close to Tiffany Blue.

@danebee: For more detailed info on the entire project, go to http://1133sc.wordpress.com

@campnlulu: For more exterior photos, go to http://greenbottleworkshop.com/Projects.htm

@meganross1: They are indeed Birch Plywood.

@Arliz: The Love print and the two prints in the guest bathroom are Columbia Forest Products Alexander Girard PLYprints available at http://www.designpublic.com/

Thanks again!
