I just moved less than a month ago. I sold my NY apt and moved to San Diego to rent. The process of search was horrible. 90% of the ads had some kind of dishonesty. Most had pictures that were not even of the same apt. All - lied about the sq footage. It was such a disappointing process. I finally found a place I was willing to settle for, however, it turns out the landlord is unreliable.
At 20 years old, I would usually fall into a place I liked without a thought. 25 years later... picky, picky picky.

Great not to see pastel or primary overload. I'm interested in the rug too.

Wow, this is some great info. Thanks so much for the feedback.

I don't normally use the chair without a couple of big pillows. I've been wanting to have a custom cushion made for years after see the Travel + Leisure editorial (I scanned the page for those interested, see link). Now that I see what the Homecrest cushions where originally, I'm confident custom is the way to go.

I've found Pledge works well on stainless stell appliances and the sink. It doesn't leave a oily film plus water doesn't leave spots.

My apartment uses tons of gray and yellow hues.
Specifically, my bedroom is Butter Yellow with an accent wall of Deep Space (B.Moore). It was once a mid-tone gray, but the darker shade feels so much richer. I do have really good sun in the room and have decent lighting fixtures to handle such a dark shade. The overhead light fixture in your room can appear harsh if it's your only light source. Personal opinion is pale grays can become dreary if not done right.

Aluminum chairs were from White Furniture I believe in Tribeca several years ago. Really affordable I recall.

Thanks for the comments folks... I missed the posting.
The moonwalk art was made by tiling iron-on transfers to fabric. It was my ode to what I consider the most magnificent dream: realized.
The bed is from Room&Board: Lowery in Walnut. It was discontinued when I bought it. But they were nice enough to track one down. They always have great service.
I did plan on painting the kitchen cabinets when I moved in, however I chickened out because I knew there would be no turning back. Since I have quite a bit of grey throughout the apt, I thought best to keep the warm wood tones.
Definitely, I'm obsessed with the Winged Victory.
Oh, I normally make my bed daily; something struck me that day about the flow of the unmade covers. So I actually ended up photographing the whole apt.

Dyson needs to get over themselves. I experienced their fan at Best Buy. So, so as a fan, but I would say it is interesting looking. $300 for that piece of plastic is severely inflated. It's worth $75 tops; and that's only because the design is innovative - right now.
Anyone interested in being cool for having a $300 Dyson fan will think it's passe in one year. I think Dyson will have missed the boat. Also, bad timing in this economy.

I've purchased many pieces from R&B, and I must say the customer service was impressive every time.
I've also made a purchase from WE once. I sent it back because the quality was not what I was expecting.
Advice: Only question your bed purchase if you have compared both beds in person.
Side note: the WE bed appears much shorter; if that has any bearing.

Reading this I got the impression this was for real. After looking at the video, it's so obviously a poor CGI mock. The motion tracking is really amateurish. You can see the page shake while the type is static.

Unplugged, are you this gullible? Concept? This thing is really just pure fantasy. Technology is definitely not even close to producing anything like this now.

The insults are unproductive.
I enjoy mid-century myself. I do have a few pieces with MC influences, however it helps not to get wrapped up in creating a distinctive theme with your furnishings. You end up becoming bored with it too quickly and then stuck with a fortune in furniture you hate. Maybe the Eames-style clock tipped into overboard.
I do think it is a beautiful space and tastefully decorated.

Realize you won't be able to put drawers in the center with sliding doors; they can't be opened.

I just redid my closet with Elfa. It's only on sale until the 15th, I think. I'm happy with how it turned out.

I originally had sliding doors, but I took them down with plans of installing double doors opening from center. I'm an inch short on the opening, so I need to have contractor redo the opening.

I had a curtain up for a while before the Elfa. I really hated the curtain. So now I am looking at the Elfa design which looks great in it's current organized state. But doors will come... eventually.

I bought this Room & Board bed (Lowery Bed in Walnut) back in February 2009. I saw it in their 2008 catalog and called to order. I was informed it was discontinued for 2009, however the rep checked to see if they could find one for me. They did!
I've order many pieces from R&B, and I must say that their customer service is the best I've ever come across. I wish my health insurance company gave half this service.

I suggest you call to see if any magic can happen. Good luck!

Just a few days ago I pulled a full-page tearsheet from a photography magazine: the Farrah poster. I thought enough time has past that its moved from cheesy to iconic. I was planning to scan into my computer to save for collage work or something. Perhaps I should consider framing instead...

I happen to have a cow hide. I like it.

If cow had been killed for the sole purpose of the hide, I would surely have a different opinion on the ethics. For example: the mink. However, the cow is being used primarily for the meat. Then next comes all those leather products like shoes, belts, sofas, etc.

If you live your life meat and leather free, you have earned your right to stand on the soap box, otherwise I think it would be hypocritical. Others may think its just plain ugly...

I'm not sure I would call most of these ideas "masks". Other than the clutter hanging in front of the one radiator, I feel more attention seems to be given than hiding.
