@funstraw You get a piece of card or metal and slide it under the glass then lift the two together with the mouse in the glass. Have you never caught a spider or other creature in a glass or takeaway container?

It's not a doily on the backrest - it's an antimacassar.

This would only work if all of your cutlery is the same length/height. Unless you put a little block in the bottom to raise shorter cutlery.

My parents had a cowhide, and I have one now too. They're easy to clean and last forever.
@latoyaversailles I was the one who had to vacuum it and never had a problem - you go over it with the lie of the hairs with a regular floor tool set with the brushes down (tile/wood floor setting).
@Blandwagon I bought our cowhide from IKEA (Australia) about 2 years ago and it was $400 back then and it was a "new" product for Australia. No "reduction". :( Funny thing was when I was looking at them, there were quite a few other people who came past saying "OMG! Does IKEA kill cows?" and "Ewww! How could you?" and they were wearing leather shoes...

You could try finding something similar to either of these products: http://www.coolgelmat.com.au/original
or
http://www.innovations.com.au/Product_Detail.aspx?ParentCategoryID=165&CategoryID=220&ProductID=86610

I've just bought two of the innovations ones - one for hubby and one for our little girl. It won't stop you from heating up, but it will stop the bed underneath you from heating up, and thus, stop making you get hotter.
