The only thing I would say is it looks like it is on a very thin and delicate paper - so mainly I wouldn't try to do this yourself, go to a framer and have it done right. I have found that a good framer can often show you a few options that go with the art work at different price ranges and then you can decide what works. Also it looks like the paper may be a bit translucent, which might be why it was done in a frame that allows light to come through, though I think it actually might look better against a white right at the picture so that it shows up a bit stronger BUT you could then do a second map adding some color around it besides the frame. It might also be pressed between two pieces of glass (assuming glass but it could be plastic) so that there is no adhesive or anything used on the corners of the delicate paper since if it wasn't professional framed. I think I would just do a very simple frame in a red color that will pop a bit and just use a white mat behind it with a few inches around the paper. What's Wrong with This Picture? (The Frame!) my kitchen would need to be much bigger for placement to matter much - if you only need to take one or two steps to get to EVERYTHING put it where you want. And having multiples of things - I would need more space, I already have few things, don't need lots of fancy utensils and more of anything would take up too much space. 9 Steps To Arranging A Well-Organized Kitchen |

I posted yesterday on the eating alone post. Most of us do it all the time, so I find it annoying to be told that makes me special is in some way - whether intended as a positive or negative. The issue I had with the New Yorker article and this post is this - it doesn't deal with what the person living or eating alone wants. Bravo to all of you who want to live alone. Do it and go be proud, yes some people will still say "when are you getting married" etc. but you've made your choice, and you are living your choice, so tell them to bug off and enjoy. But the what to make when you eat alone assumes that coupled is the proper way to be, and both ignores the person who isn't coupled happily and so alienates them, and only makes the person who is alone, and would prefer not to be, unhappy too. The New Yorker article really left out people living alone and living just fine - good, job, nice place to live but who is not only alone, but lonely, and that is where the difference is. Many live alone but aren't lonely. For those that are alone, don't want to be and are lonely, well, it's very different. A circle of friends may not be the same as a family of one's own and no, you can't just go out ant meet someone. It doesn't work the way lots of people say it does, that you will eventually meet someone, or when you stop looking you will meet someone, or if you just are happy and live your life...some people just don't get to meet someone. The recent articles on eating alone and living alone that have appeared here seem so narrow of thought if makes me want to stop reading anything here. Why Do So Many Americans Live Alone? Some of us cook for one every night. You can cook a huge number of things in about 10 minutes. As one other person noted you make it seem like dining alone is either sad or the chance to get something indulgent and different. I might say - what do you do when you cook for two every night and don't always want the same thing. The "alone" is different is not true for a large number of people, some by choice and for others not. Meals for one, going to restaurants alone, etc. should be posts about the average and everyday as for many people it is and the posts that make it seem like everyone eats in pairs ignores a lot of the readership. Is the coffee table the CB2 one? I have their nesting tables and use the biggest one as a coffee table but a slightly bigger coffee table might be nice but their peekaboo one is only 13.5 inches high - which seems low (my coffee table is also pretty much my computer table, dinner table -- in other words I do everything sitting on my couch at night). Doesn't look so low in the pics but whenever I look at it in CB2.... Gail's Colorful Chic Small Cool Contest |

Anyone know where to get the coffee table (clear plexi). It does not appear to be the one from CB2 which is only 13 inches high and thus too low. Miss Julie's Master's Class House Tour |

These are great - but not if you live in a big NYC apartment building. You can't do most of these. I can clean my fridge. That's about it. I can't seal my windows, the water heater is a big boiler for the whole building (all 27 floors). Mainly, I can turn of my lights if I'm not in the room, I can close my blinds in summer since I get a lot of sunlight. The Ikea layout is VERY purposeful - it is meant to be a maze, one that takes you pretty much past all of the products in the store which they hope means you will run into a few extra items to purchase. If it drives you crazy get a map when you go in walk directly to that area and don't look around and look at it and grab the number and then go get your box. 5 Places To Shop For IKEA When There Isn't One Around |

My cell phone works fine but soemtimes I don't want my email and texts and all that stuff right next to me. Also, nice to have something that has a speaker and dock in it. And an old fashioned radio (even with all the apps, to get NPR in the morning, the radio is still pretty easy (or bringing a laptop into the bedroom). Only wish there were more options for small footprint docking stations/alarm clock/radios (so they wont take up much room on a night stand). Oddly, few are iPhone 4 compatible. Just a clock radio is cheap - under $20 at most drug stores - but the sound is terrible. Why Cell Phones Are Better Alarms Than Clocks |

You could also try Citadine - theya re apartment/hotels - little kitchen's, someone will do some cleaning, in a few different neighborhoods and reasonably priced for the most part. Definitely different than renting an apartment but depending on length of stay etc. it's an option. Also if you are staying for a few months you could do this for the first few days or a week while you actually look at the other places. How To Find A Short-Term Rental In Paris? Good Questions |

Here's the thing for me - once you hit over 500 feet I just don't feel it's that hard to furnish - HUGE numbers of NYers do it, no big deal so unless you do something amazing the smallest space is going to impress me the most - around here 900 sf isnt' small - it's big enough for a family with 2 kids. Unless super pricey or not possible for other reasons (pipes in wall, only renting) I would simply change the window shape - you say there is a good view outside - make the window bigger, making it twice as high and reframing nad installing new window - not as pricey as you might think, probably would increase resale value if you own..... wow - book shelves where you can't stand the books up so it's really hard to take one off the shelf or see what the book is. Seems like not very useful storage to me. I get that some of it may be the display but they've then shown a display that shows the shelves to be pretty poorly designed. Looking cool but being unusable doesn't = good storage space.
