From someone also recently in the trenches (my youngest is not yet 1), I agree with everyone here, frankly. Preparation is a good thing! And it can be fun, especially if you derive a sense of satisfaction from it. (Which you probably will, since that's part of the whole "nesting" thing!) Just don't kill yourself trying to get it all "perfect." There will always be something more to do/make/research; and you just don't know til the baby arrives what things you or baby will appreciate the most.

p.s One piece of preparation, though, that I wish I had done before my first? Study up on breastfeeding if you plan to try. It's HARD, and not nearly as intuitive as I (or any of the dozens of other first time moms I commiserated about it later) had assumed it would be. Second time around was still hard and not perfect, but at least I was prepared!

Krikkit, I've had the same experience--which is part of why it's so hard for me to get rid of things! I've seen it happen over and over.

Where is the sparkly pillow from?

I vote the origami/stick one as well (in brighter colors), though the fabric circles is super cute too.

@DEARMISHA, I made a treeful of those Spool birds for a mobile before my son was born, but despite repeated attempts, just could not get the mobile to balance. I'm sure there's a trick to it that I was (am) missing, but now they nest in a vase of branches in our living room. :)

Ditto here re the wheelybug--we got the little bee for our son's first birthday, but it was too mobile at the time (tended to scoot off out from under him), but now that he's 19 months (and 28 lbs) he loves to ride it around!
