LA certainly needs a pubic transportation upgrade but the real reason you don't need a car to get around in New York or London is the density of these environments. Many day to day tasks can be handled by walking (groceries, sundries, etc.) which obviate the need for transportation. Taking a bus to the middle of a parking lot populated by a single super market is not a recipe for a public transportation dominated LA.

I just want to second (or third, or whatever) the idea of replacing the doors with something that would allow the whole space to open to the room. If not the French doors suggested then perhaps the modern bi-fold doors that accomplish the same thing.

Count me in the "too much visual clutter" camp. I think the room would be better served by replacing the upper cabinet doors. Too, the larger handles on the lower cabinets end up looking very tightly grouped due to the size of the kitchen, again, creating visual clutter. Overall the concept is great and shows tremendous creativity and effort.

First of all, very beautifully rendered between the floor and the tile work, clearly a skilled hand. I am wondering, though, if you considered a counter-height fridge to keep the room open and airy. As beautiful as it is I get the feeling that the appliances - particularly the fridge - were left there by someone else.

Most diy plumbing repairs involve events that look like they would be impossible to duplicate with this sink (whatever falls into the drain, hair clogs). But it also looks like you can't really stopper this sink either making it more useful for guest rooms or half-baths than a main or primary sink.

I am not being a smart-ass, just a sheltered city dweller, but is there a reason besides aesthetics to rake, blow or whatever your leaves away? Fire hazard, kills lawns, I am just curious.
