As a landlord myself, I whole-heartedly agree with Geckotoes1. Don't post something asking for "advice" until you have actually asked your landlord to fix the issue. Chances are, he will get it fixed. And I agree, that does not look like mold. If the landlord refuses to fix the issue, then you have a right to complain and worry.

How To Make My Landlord Deal with Water Damage and Mold in Bathroom? Good Questions

After suffering through an infestation in my apartment, I can seriously say that heat treatment will work a million times better than spraying pesticides. The danger in spraying bedbugs is that they will just move over to a neighboring apartment(s). Bringing in bedbug sniffing dogs that are trained in finding the infestations(s) are key.... finding which units are affected and which aren't. Then heating those units up to a temperature that kills the bugs. Worked about 99% for us. We still find an occasional bug about once every 2 months, but have suffered nary a bite. It's totally different than being eaten alive every night like we were. That being said, we still laundered all of our clothes/linens, invested in a mattress cover, and caulked all of the cracks/crevices in the place. We also spray our mattress every few days with rubbing alcohol. We have been sleeping quite soundly now. Good luck!

Bed Bugs: An Update From The Trenches

We became managers of a small building, and ended up with a pretty severe infestation in our unit after moving in. My husband and I are self-proclaimned "neat freaks," so the fact that we had bedbugs was very embarrassing. For a week or so we suffered in silence, awaking with our legs and arms absolutely covered in bites. We finally contacted our higher-up, and he thankfully had experience with heat-treatment after being in the building management business for so long. First, the exterminators brought in a bedbug sniffing dog... no joke. They are specially trained to find bedbug nests and "alert" when they find them. We later found out it was our tenants in the neighboring unit that had the biggest infestation, so we had inherited their "roommates" as well. Thankfully none of the other units had been affected.. just us and our delightfully messy neighbors. We had to evacuate both units for the day while the exterminators brought in giant heat blowers and cranked the temperature to over 100 degrees F. After this was completed, we still washed all of our clothing/bedding and got a specially designed mattress cover with Velcro tabs along the zippers for bedbugs. We caulked all of our baseboards and vacuumed every nook and cranny. Even after all of this, we still will find a random bug about once a month. We flip our mattress and spray it with rubbing alcohol every week and vacuum daily. We never allow any clothing/clutter to be on the floor. We haven't had any bites for months... so I think the nightmare is over. The constant worry, however, is still there. Especially since we have a toddler and we are very paranoid about him ever getting bitten. Even though bedbugs don't carry disease or anything scary like that, it's still hard to sleep when you know there are bugs crawling on you... :P

Unfortunately one of my cats absolutely refuses to use a box with a cover, so a fancy- schmancy box is out of the question. I just hide the pan in a small closet on the floor (thankfully our apartment has ample closet/storage space). We put a long hook-and-eye latch on the door so it stays propped open enough for the kitties, but stays shut and keeps my toddler out. Jumbo litter pan = $6.... latch= $3. :)

Love this entire space! Very cozy and sophisticated with some slight quirk. You guys (and your kitties) are so cute!

This home is fantastic and eclectic home! I am truly envious of your sewing area (mine is crammed into the main bedroom so our toddler won't get into it...we only have a 2 bedroom apartment). Also, as "mom" to two cats for the last eight years, I almost shot my coffee out of my nose at the "don't puke" sign. Brilliant! I appreciate it when personal humor is sprinkled throughout a space...

My most favorite tour EVER. As a parent of a toddler, I think this space is brilliant... I can just picture a kiddo running in giant circles and enjoying every minute of it! The music room is akin to something my husband and I have been dreaming of forever... simply a wonderful and inspiring cozy family space!

Cool house, but it's not in the least bit cozy. As a parent, I like to have lots of comfy spots for me and the kiddo to plop down during the day and snuggle. If I was a baby in that crib in the middle of a huge room.... I'd feel a little exposed. Actually, this whole space makes me feel that way. Cool for a young, hip couple... but a family needs a warm, cozy, inviting space to live and play in. Just my 2 cents...

My shrunken head made out of goat-skin and my collections of preserved beetles and butterflies, and an emu egg on a stand. My husband and I also have an assortment of skulls around the home, including a black-bear. Somehow, it "works" with our decor without been too ooky.

The first apartment my husband and I (and 2 cats) shared in Seattle on Capitol Hill was 500sqft. Now that we've had our son, we have moved into 810sqft. It seems like a mansion in comparison! Location, price (we manage our building) are huge factors but we also like our cozy home. :)

$137 for (what looks to be) cardboard boxes?!? At first I was excited since my son has a robot-themed bedroom, but that price is outrageous! Well, at least it's inspired me to D.I.Y something similar at a fraction of the cost...

Your home has so many elements that reflect my loves and interests as well... I love all of your vignettes and collections! I've been told several times by friends I am a gay man trapped in a woman's body... and I guess my love for your amazing home just proves it! Well done!
