We have open on all our upper cabinets. We use everything often enough it doesn't really get dusty. Every now again when most of the dishes are in the dishwasher I give the shelves a wipe. I like it. Kitchen Shelving Style: Open or Concealed? |

I love farmhouse sinks. Although you need to be aware that cast iron sinks are a pain to keep bright white. I have a kholer and it's a pain to clean although I love it's beauty. Form & Function: Farmhouse Sinks |

@Sarah we put in butcher block last year and sealed it with waterlox. Waterlox sinks into the wood and seals instead of making a barrier on top so it can handle a lot of abuse and looks beautiful. It's holding up better than our cast iron sink. Butcher Block Countertops Roundup |
