@ Anna Lisa, these lids are for wide-mouth jars. Only narrow mouth jars fit on blenders as far as I know. It would be cool if they made one of these lids to fit regular mouth jars!

I use a 9" pyrex pie plate from the grocery store. It holds a huge salad, and the dressing doesn't spill out.

I'll often make french toast for dinner; or refried bean tostadas with cheese and hot sauce; or a big salad; or steak, mashed potatoes, and sauteed mushrooms and onions. Bruschetta is a yummy one person meal. I've been on a crepes kick lately.

I put the whole stick of butter in a ziploc baggie, and place that in a bowl of hot water. No mess when the butter is softened. It takes about 10 minutes to soften, too, so it's my go to method. I don't even worry about putting the butter out to soften.
