Aw, totally could have kept the wood if you'd gone for a hunting-lodge theme.

If you're buying from Lamps Plus, beware of styles that try to look antique or weathered -- the string I ordered was really fake-looking. It had that sort of "Pier 1 effect" where it's obviously new. I ended up getting the same style at Target, with twice as many lanterns for the same price.

I agree with mjs. It's a little silly -- I'd probably drool over any nice collection of colors they put together. Why don't they just provide public access to their library of colors? Then they could help people find their own personal styles, instead of telling people what to like.

My objection to the hole-drilling is that it can't be displayed as anything other than a lamp after that, or as some other object with a hole through it. It seems wasteful. I don't mind that they're mined.

But the museum mounts look somewhat awkward, with the neck bending in that manner. I guess to me, it's just a little too "decorator," as if they've run out of ideas.

I have been wondering how to do this for over eight years.

I enjoy their paper -- especially their magazine, which is just about the best news magazine in the country -- but your site can easily do without them entirely.

As an interior design, it isn't very organized or clean.

As a way to live, I think I speak on behalf of some men out there who don't read this blog when I say this place is AWESOME!

I'd really like to see how this place grows up.

Either paint the walls a neutral color like olive, taking care to choose something neither too dark nor too soft, or put a huge painting above the TV.
