WRT oven cleaner ... I had no idea what other uses can be made of it, and now I can add this - cleaning burnt pots!

My elderly mother lives on a farm and the well water contains a lot of iron, which stains the sinks and shower walls. When she was recuperating from a fall, I called Molly Maid to come and do cleaning for her ...

Rust stains on the ceramic tile? Out came Easy-Off Oven Cleaner from the handy bag of tricks. Spray it on, let it work for a while, wipe clean with cold water and a sponge ... stains gone :-D

If you are handy with tools -- or have a friend who is -- and you need a wall of these, it would not be too difficult to set up jigs to cut the various boards to size and rout the openings for the hand grips [though you would not need those if you were intentionally building a wall, not using them as individual book boxes.

For a wall, instead of the feet dropping into the routed slot, drill a hole to snugly hold a dowel through the bottom side, and part way through the top from the outside, then tap a cut-to-length dowel into those holes to lock the boxes together. You would want to mark the wall where the studs are, and every few layers anchor the wall of boxes to the wall so nothing would fall down if someone inadvertently pulled on one of the shelves ...

American 4 wheel drive [or AWD] and greenest does not compute. There is no such thing as green Detroit steel. After the shake-up over the past few years, Detroit still just doesn't get it. After the bail-outs and all, they are right back to making gas-guzzling oversized vehicles. Next time they come cap-in-hand they will learn that American can survive without GM, etc.

There are green SUVs made in the USA, by American workers, but they are from foreign-owned companies.

… we have a 2 year old and plan on having another child within a year or two, so a compact car isn't really an option

Seriously?

A tad better than orange crates ... ;-)

The wall of boxes shown would cost $2,358.13, + shipping from Spain, + import duties, etc., etc., etc.

More years ago than I care to remember, my dad showed me how to use jars of various sorts as storage on his workbench ... He made a wall shelf above the bench with shelves of lumber of perhaps 1"x6" deep. He then put two or three [depending on the weight of the jar and contents] ¾" round head screws through the lids, from the inside, mounting them on the underside of the boards.

It was easy to access the contents - even single-handed, since you did not have to hold the lid - by unscrewing the jar from its lid, and the contents were kept visible, clean, and dry when in their place.

I'd think you could do the same thing under kitchen cupboards, for example, with the same advantage of having the containers capped when not in use.
