I recently posted a potato pie recipe that's simple and always a crowd pleaser at potlucks:

This looks delicious. I love the taste, texture and smell of braised meat. (short ribs, anyone?)
I can't wait to give this a shot.
By the way, kudos for cooking this in the summer. Some sissies avoid the oven in August. They're really missing out.

I recently took a trip to the Outer Banks and caught some beautiful trout (and bluefish!) I'd like to grill the trout whole, but am a little intimidated, as I've only grilled filets in the past! Can you tell me a little about the benefits of grilling whole fish? Do you put yours right on the grill? Any great recipes or tips for this?
Thanks!

Peaches and Cream pie. It satisfies fruit lovers, cake lovers and pie lovers alike in one sweet, creamy bite.

There's variations of this pie on sites like allrecipes.com (which use canned peaches, instant pudding, etc.) but nothing beats my mom's version with fresh peaches.

I imagine this would be fantastic with strawberries, too.

I hit up a market near my apartment (in DC) on the corner of 14th and U Streets...got a beautiful pork loin, which I wrapped in bacon and roasted garlic. I made an asparagus soup from some giant spears, and green garlic (looked like scallions) and topped it off with a sun-dried tomato baguette.
Thank God it's market season!!!

It's fun to know there was a time when cooking (and cook bookery) was so inventive, so groundbreaking. So much of what we do today has been done before, but she found a niche and it transformed millions of AMerican kitchens.

Julia was such a trailblazer, could she have imagined her book would be the beginning of her empire? Is that part of what kept her so motivated?

Oh yeah, and I LOVE the Valentines. Is anyone else planning on making their husband pose for next year's cards?
