What's Cooking This Weekend? Weekend of May 18-19, 2013

I have 4 bookcases full of cookbooks. 2 of those are cooking magazines. The magazines are in order by month. The baking all together. Cookbooks like Southern Living and Taste of Home are annuals and in order by year. Everything else is kind of a crap shoot.

What Does Your Kitchen Say About You?

I have an acre. I have grown tomatoes in pots, and it works, but you really have to be diligent on getting rid of the suckers, and keeping it watered. I now have 8 4x10 raised beds, so I've stopped container gardening except for flowers.

I bought all new appliances 2 years ago, all GE. GE French door refrigerator. I love the fridge part, hate the freezer part. It's a pain to dig thru the drawer for stuff. I love the fridge part, it holds big cookies sheets and the like. I got a slide in range, love the oven, hate the smooth cooktop. I'm not plumbed for gas in my Colorado kitchen, so I'm stuck with it. Trash compactor is great. Our budget was 4500, and I spent a little more than that. I had to buy a new DW a few months back, and ended up with a Kitchen Aid. It's got that funky silverware tray on top, but I don't load it with the regular silverware. I researched for months prior for the amount of money I had, and these ended up being the best I could do for the price. I am going to get a gas line run to my kitchen in the next couple of years, then I'm gettin' a new stove.

Four Reasons Why I Will Never Give Up Print Cookbooks
4/2/13 3:15 PM

I love print books, and online recipes. I have a room dedicated to my cookbooks and cooking magazines(I need taller bookcases). I'll never give up print cookbooks. I love to just read through them and decide to cook or bake something new. I wouldn't bother with an e-book.

I have a Cuisinart food processor that I got less than 10 years ago. I shredded cheese in it the other day, and now the disc won't come off the center spindle. No amount of pulling will get if off, so I'm off to buy a new Breville Sous Chef Food processor today. I used my Cuisinart all the time :(
