Haha I can totally relate to the "oh no they're coming" panic. My poor husband never works harder than on the day before my in-laws are coming to visit. I agree with some of the comments about the bottom of the rope/tie off. I thought this looked cool until I scrolled down and just didn't like the way that looked. Of course, for a quick fix it's great....and I think that adamwa's suggestion with the hidden brackets is genius. I may just use this idea soon. Thanks!

Way to go on the Ralph Lauren shelf find! Also, the tubing "solution" for the chandelier looks totally cool. Love it! Love your style! Keep up the good work :-)

@Meredith at Welcome to Heardmont, If you ever do this under shelf thing please post it to your blog. I want to know how it's done. Hoping my landlord will let me do something similiar after we have lived here a year. Actually, I'm planning to use the pics from your redo to show my landlord when I beg for permission to do the project. Thanks for sharing!

Very pretty transformation. The island was brilliant! Totally makes the room. I recently saw a similiar redo where the lady did subway tile backsplash with a shelf under the cabinets (the cabinets were lifted to the cieling) I think her name was Anne Turner. Maybe you can google it but, it was georg. Might give you further inspiration as you continue on the nest little finishing steps.

Love the place and the collections ...wish I could have seen more...can you post more pictures? I would really like to see the vertical placed pictures. I really like this idea and was dissapointed after the blurb about it that there were no pics of it. The pics you have though are so much lovelier than most of contestants. Your friend did a nice job.

Thanks for sharing this! I am trying to do a color theme like yours right now and am having trouble finding things in dark blue and yellow that I like. You have given me hope and ispiration...and serious rug envy. The rug in fron of you couch is too cool.

very cool. And I definutely LOVE the choice of an intense kitchen color to liven up the white rental cabinets. Agree with siska about the art but, overall very cool.

I am really inspired by what you said about finding a place for everything but, out in the open. I think this might help me with my ADHD. Thanks and great job on your place!

Wow!! What an amazing job you have done and I love seeing all the beautiful things you have collected into the space. To me the placement of everythng seems ingenious. I needed you when we downsized to our 800 square foot 2 bdrm...I thought that was a challenge...but, what you could have done with that! Amazing!

I don't think this is in Callifornia but, there is a store that opened recently here called The Christmas Tree Shops and they have a better selection and usually better pricing on lamp shades than most big box stores. Also, I got "lost" in there bc it was my first time at the store and they had so many cute and inexpensive home items. Will definitely be making many trips back...it's my new fave for the moment.

I'm actually OBSESSED with this idea right now..but not for the bedroom. This concept is clearly destined for a screened in porch y'all!
