I love houses like this... but I hope they used some energy-efficient windows. Those original light-filled modern homes were built at a time when energy was practically free

Yay! Some of my favorite spots made it to the list!

I buy and sell regularly at the Elephant's Trunk in my hometown of New Milford, CT. It's one of the best flea's I've ever been to, and it's every Sunday (but go early--it wind's down just after lunch).

I used to be a tour guide at Van Cortlandt Manor. It's beautiful early-18th-century Dutch home right on the banks of the Hudson River. You'll see the other (non-British) side of the history of this region of colonial America.

The little glow-in-the-dark gentleman on the bookshelf is Señor Misterioso. I'm not sure if he's still available anywhere, but he guides me through life from the dashboard of my car.

That tape looks pretty cool--I was guessing you were going to say it was striped fabric pinned to the walls. I'd love to hear how it's holding up. Some types of masking tape can get quite brittle after time. Plus, if you leave the tape on for more than a few weeks it can be tough to pull off...just something to think about.
