Another book well worth reading is Getting Real: Challenging the Sexualization of Girls by Australian writer, Melinda Tankard Reist. Wow. Not what I would plan for my daughter. I grew up with California 'gurls' whose parents pushed them into an inappropriate and mature kind of 'cool' much like this. It doesn't end well.
