I love the look of vintage toys and the memories. I have incorporated many into our home.
But as a mom I want to remind new parents of the dangers of lead paint. Old toys and furniture often were painted with lead or toxic paint. So be sure to either test anything painted for lead. (kits available at most hardware stores) or keep vintage items far out of reach. Little ones will put things in their mouth no matter how closely we watch them.

Colors are not bad! It's the people who present them in a bad way. I love all colors!!! I think it really depends on the space, light, mood, furnishings etc....

I hand wash my clothes. However the previous owners of our house left a ton for us. (They left us a lot of "gifts" we never knew we wanted..) In the past we have donated quite a few to thrift shops. This time the hangers went to a friend who teaches art a local high school. She uses them for all types of things from making mobiles, providing support in sculptures, and even some real funky jewelry. I kept a few that I cut into smaller pieces to attach my climbing vines to the trellis. If you look at them as wire you can find quite a few uses for them.

I have always loved his tree house. I have kept several clippings from magazines about his tree house. This is the type of weekend home I want.

I can't commit to any paint color for my walls, upholstery for my furniture, or even what decorating style I truly am. How could I ever decide what design element I could commit to on my body. Of course I like change.

We had a similar situation in an old apartment, but worse. It was lovely mustard yellow vinyl tile with odd flowers on them. So 70s but in a very bad way I was finishing up school and we would be moving in a year.
We used rubber matting from an fitness supply co. The type that goes in a fitness center weight area. It was fairly cheap and came in a wide range of colors. We order a sheet slightly bigger than what we needed cut it to size and caulked around the edges. It worked great. Was antimicrobial, easy to clean and felt cushy under your feet. When we moved out we pulled it up and there was no mold underneath. We actually used to help cushion things when we were packing up!

How funny- I was about to say the orange chair looks exactly like our dog's old water dish after it left too close to gas grill.

I think this would be fun at a club or juice bar where they go through lots of lemons and limes. In my home.....no.

I reminded me of a life preserver too!!
