I asked a chef once about #3 and he told me it didn't matter...I didn't believe him though, so I use a bench scraper. I love that drying tip, I've been doing it wrong!

I love to suck on mango pits too, always alone and always over the sink. My mom always eats chicken wings/drumsticks, ribs, and turkey drumsticks clean to the bone.

I do the same thing with scrubbing the sink--it also gives me peace of mind that I won't somehow cross-contaminate. Once or twice a week, after scrubbing out the sink I put about 1/4 cup of baking soda in each drain and splash in a glug of white vinegar, let it foam up a for a few minutes, then rinse it down with hot water. Since we don't have a disposal, it helps keep any teeny food bits from clogging the drains.

My husband and I rent and we've been in the same place 2 years (hopefully a 3rd). Since we try to be the best tenants possible, I've found that it gives us leverage to ask for small improvements whenever we renew our lease. Last year it was painting all of the 70's paneled doors and trim white, and painting the walls calm and cool colors. Our landlord payed for the paint and supplies and I did all of the work, which was cost effective. This year I'm hoping they will go for replacing the green laminate counters (to something just as economical, but neutral in color) and possibly refinishing the kitchen cabinets. I feel like if it feels reciprocal, my landlord will totally go for it. Especially since when picking out colors and stuff, I try to be mindful and suggest things that will help them rent the place out to solid tenants in the future.

I used a Le Creuset stovetop kettle for a few years, that I liked a lot. This year I got an electric one ( http://www.target.com/p/bella-tea-kettle-white-blue/-/A-14232072?ref=tgt_adv_XSG10001&AFID=Google_PLA_df&LNM=%7C14232072&CPNG=Unassigned&kpid=14232072&LID=PA&ci_src=17588969&ci_sku=14232072 )

I love it. It's ceramic and has an auto-shut-off.

Stuffing is definitely my jam. I make a similar one with dried cherries and either walnuts or hazelnuts.

I store mine in a screw-top container in the refrigerator. It last SO LONG that way. I bought mine in bulk from Costco a whole year ago and it's still going strong! Great tip, I will try the freezer method with my next purchase.

I love pumpkin and spice things that are homemade, but I usually have all the spices in my cupboard already...so I just mix it myself. I am not a fan of pumpkin-spice flavored beverages at all.

@lazy_lurker & ATN654 it can be found in California, specifically the Apple Hill area around Camino. I know that's a bit far from Utah :/

I grew up in California with a Korean born mother, who got a taste for pizza when she was pregnant with me (I like to say my love for pizza started in the womb). The only pizza she liked was from Round Table, so that is what the pizza of my childhood tastes like. These days I make pizza at home and I even made it for Christmas Eve at my mom's, and she approved! It was like the best Christmas gift!

My husband and I had a similar approach, DIYing pretty much everything from bow-ties to decor to favors (jam!). We spent the bulk of our money on food and photography. We found a venue that let us hire our own vendors and I was even able to make all of the desserts for our dessert table, save for the tiny cake for cutting (ordered from Whole Foods the day before)! It was all small bites and our caterer provided mixers/garnishes and bartenders while we provided the liquor/beer/wine.

I have purchased seemingly perfect looking brussels sprouts only to find tiny bugs beneath the layers. Sometimes it's just one or two sprouts, but other times it seems like all of them are infested. Is there a good way to detect them before buying, short of peeling away the layers at the market? Or an efficient way to clean them off?

I will usually say something like, "Do you want me to put this in the fridge?" and maybe put the blame on myself by saying that I'm sort of weird about food safety...maybe it's a little passive, but mostly I want to avoid burning anyones ego, especially if they are hosting and feeding me.

I love pine nuts and luckily I never have to buy them. My family lives in Nevada--where pinion pines can be found in abundance--and my mom & aunts forage for them every year. I don't think I've ever made a recipe with them...we just eat them straight up!

A Double-Double from In-n-Out wouldn't be right without American cheese! That said, there isn't much room for it in my fridge, but I don't turn up my nose at it when the time and place is appropriate.
