Oh, no. They don't soften. I didn't realize that was part of the point. They do save energy by cutting drying time.

I have nothing to add to the advice here except to say that I did cloth diapers in an apt with shared laundry and it was totally fine. Also did it at the laundromat, when I moved to a bldg with no laundry -- that, I do not recommend. Switched to diaper service and that was great. I didn't mind using prefolds, altho I used disposables when we were out and about.

If you're worried about the gross factor, keep in mind that no matter what kind of diapers you use, your baby's clothes will be covered in poop, pee, and puke a lot of the time. That stuff is going in the shared washers no matter what.

And yes, they really will get clean. Baking soda is your best friend.

I want the mirror. Other than the West Elm one, which is too expensive, where can I find a deep mirror like that?

Yeah, doing a little research seems reasonable. And these totally look like a scam.

That said, Djluckyonline - don't hate on the dryer balls! According to the empirical evidence in my dryer, they really do cut drying time significantly, especially with sheets and towels.

When my grandpa passed away, I inherited his collection of license plates -- all 50 states, most of them from mid-century or earlier. I've been wanting to do something with them, but didn't want to look like, well, Applebee's. (Altho I do think junk can make beautiful art, Applebee's doesn't cut it.) Any suggestions?

It's not exclusively a korean thing, but every korean cook i know uses scissors more than knives. I have a couple pairs and use them for just about anything softer than a carrot.

Wow... Most things on AT and nearly everything on Re-Nest remind me that I have a lot less $ than your target audience, but this one is especially blatant.

Uh, yeah, I would think of borrowing first. Who the hell runs out and buys an extra grill for one party? No one I know, and not cuz we're environmental saints, more like cuz we're normal people who don't have crazy disposable money burning holes in our pockets.

My 4 yr old son helps around the house (I do not call them "chores") and gets an allowance, but the two things are not connected.

My philosophy is we are a team, we work together, we help each other out. Therefore, I expect him to help around the house commensurate with his ability (at this time, it includes picking up his toys, feeding the dog, setting and cleaning the table, washing the windows he can reach, and sweeping and mopping the floor - albeit not very effectively - although he certainly does not do all these things every day or even close).

Also, since I have all the money and he has none, it seems fair that I share some with him, commensurate with his level of responsibility.

I want him to help out because it's his home, not for the money.

Aimi -- Wow. I'm impressed. As the mom, I doubt I could stay on top of that, but it sounds like a great idea.

?? Don't different people's pain tolerances vary widely? Like, really really widely? My grill does not have a thermometer but I'm highly skeptical about this.
