The responses to this post assure me that the boring and repetitive safety comments are here to stay. Perhaps a compromise? Let's all agree to one per post per safety concern. After all, if someone has already made the negative comment and you repeat it then you lose the "i was just trying to help" defense. They've been "helped" and now you're just tattling. 4 Questions To Ask Yourself Before Leaving a Jerky Comment |

I love this so much. I second the comment that this is why I read this blog. My Room: Mabel San Francisco, CA |

Our daughter's 3 birthdays have all been no gift for this very reason. People seem to want to bring something anyways, but I really love how amazing the gifts become when people are freed from the expected $20-$30 toy. She has received potted flowers, treats that she has enjoyed at that friend's house before, homemade treasures and whatnot. It also frees me from feeling that I have to buy loot bags and I can spend that money on presents that I know she'll love. Small Home Dilemmas: Dealing with Gifts and Considering No Gift Parties |

I feel the same way about the lighting, but then I thought about it and it makes sense. I always forget to take before shots when I'm doing something. When I do remember I'm rushed to do it because I'm excited to get on with making the changes - I'm not thinking about how to make the place look its best, so it's less polished and poorly lit. But when I've made the changes, I'm really focused on making it look its best for the picture. Amy & Chad's Subtle Kitchen Update Triangle Honeymoon |

I use a large plastic basket (it sort of looks like a mini plastic laundry hamper) to hold them all. Everything just gets thrown in and the basket lives on the shelf. I've tried stacking and organizing, but it doesn't keep. This way, everything's together and the cupboard still looks neat. Kitchen Storage: How Do You Contain Your Containers? |

I love this so much and can't wait to make it. Also love the comment ideas on how to make it non-slip. the blog shows her kids playing with it on carpet, but we're all hardwood. Make A Roll-Up Hopscotch Mat The Idea Room |

I think the white metal paint was to paint the container, not given to the kid directly. Besides, there are huge age ranges - you wouldn't give a toddler paint that's not non-toxic, but you probably wouldn't give them watercolours on plane - washable or not, you'd take the child-hating passenger-types to a new level if your kid painted on them. I have a very different style, BUT it is such a happy looking and comfortable space. I can't understand how anyone could look at this and, even if they wouldn't live there, not smile. I think it's very lovely and very real. Totally the kind of place to spend the evening with a pinner and a great book. Charlie's Comfortable & Cozy |

;) I love how this is a space for us all to air our hangups - I see this and I think cobwebs. But, if I were a mommy with a lower level of neurosis, I think my daughter would love it. Yasher's Cloud Ceiling The Light Garden |

We've recently added a set of twins to our family of 3 and decided to give up pretending that the living space in our 2 bedroom is a living room. From 7am to 9 pm, 360 days a year it's a playroom. From 9pm to 11 pm and maybe 5 days where we entertain, it's a space for adults - and we can set our wine glasses on a train table. Being Realistic About Priorities When Space is Limited |

I have the same bed - thanks for sharing this, now I know what I've been doing wrong in my room. I went neutral, but this bed needs oranges and reds. Before & After: AJ Takes His Bedroom from Drab to Fab Handjobs (For the Home) |

I love the ideas about potatoes in the stock pot and bread bins over the fridge. I have one cupboard as a pantry and too much stuff to fit in it. I hung Ikea spice shelves above the doors to my kitchen and they each fit about 4 glass jars or cans. When I stock up on canned items they go under my bed - I don't see a difference with putting them under the couch. No Pantry? 8 Tips for Keeping Counters Clutter-Free |

great question about the stove! I never would have thought of that. This is not a kitchen I would ever think to create, but I would love to visit it. Marie & Nick's Festive East Bay Ranch Kitchen Spotlight |

Baby is still very small. No point looking for trouble - I'm sure his parents will change his room around as his growing skill set creates new safety concerns. It's a very cool and very creative hack. I think it's more beautiful than the crib it's based on. Remember that there's a mom who poured her heart into making a beautiful crib for her baby and then took the time to share it so that someone else might be inspired. I personally would NEVER share a photo on this site because it's always such a race for members to be the first to point out potential safety issues - it must be really disheartening for those who make the effort to share. I think it all comes down to the REASON you're looking at twin beds, not the actual doing it that says something about your marriage. People who sleep separately because one (or both) of them is uncompromising or jerky (like a blanket stealer who is rude when awoken or something) may be on track for divorce because of the trait, not sleeping separately. recently when my infant twins were sick I slept in the living room to be close to them, there was something romantic about going into my "husband's room" to say goodnight. we all live in houses with un-varnished wood floors and organic carpets? perhaps when you're child is still in the licking the ground phase you'd want to watch it, but maybe there's such thing as being too particular. Make An Over-Sized Play Mat For Less Than $10 This Mommy Loves |

I think the colours are very bold. They aren't speaking to me, but I can see why they were chosen for that room. I see what you mean, about the end of the fabric. Thanks for posting your trial and letting us see what "present wrapping" looks like - I've often thought of using the technique when I haven't wanted to invest the time. if you redo it, i'd love to see it. Maybe the picture just isn't doing it justice? It's a bit of an odd angle and the bigger pillow takes the focus. 1 Old Sweater + 1 Old Towel = A New Bolster Pillow |

I completely agree that some of the comments come across pretty snotty, I wonder if that's just because the people writing them are so into giving feedback on the design that they insulate themselves from remembering that there's a person attached to those pictures. Sort of like a doctor who's good at what they do but has a horrible bed side manner. I hope people don't stop offering criticisms, but it's always good to remember to speak a bit more politely.
