I'm one of those people who try to squeeze everything under the sun in my Honda sedan. At this point, I really don't need to rent a van for much unless it's ridiculously huge. I've invested in a couple blankets and some good rope. Now I put the blankets down on the car's roof, hoist dressers and sofas on top, tie them down with lots of rope and I'm on my way. Granted, I'm not about to drive 65 mph on a highway but I'm ok to drive 25 mph down regular old streets. It's worth it for a great piece at the right price.

I've done the wood job. Picked up the same exact piece of wood at an estate sale for $1. Stained it with a walnut stain. Then added Kramer's Best to protect it and give it a nice shine. It's got a really nice rustic look to it. I'm probably going to take some hairpin legs and make it into a bench at one point.

For the brackets, you can use anything you like.

$300 is beyond overpriced.

Geez, that was quick. I sold that shell chair this weekend at the antique mall for $11. It's plastic and soooooo not worth $85.

Super cute! There are always leftover 80s chairs with horrible seats and backs. This is such a great solution to fix those up and make them trendy at the same time.

I have an Etsy store and ship quite a bit. I'm on the "this is ridiculous" bandwagon. FedEx/UPS will charge you (and in turn the customer) a heck of a lot more for a box that doesn't fit the square/rectangle shape since it doesn't fit well into their shipment stacks. It's just not economical.

Second off, the breakibility factor. I ship lots of fragile items. Bubble wrapping, even if I put 6 layers, and then placing in this type of casing almost guarantees that the item will still get broken. You need to wrap well, then place in a square/rectangle box with lots of padding, that way whatever sits on top and on the side won't squish and break fragile items.

This is the most impractical idea ever.

My now-husband and I both lived alone for about five years each before we met. It made for quite a few dating quirks but if you live alone, you kind of get it about the other person. The two things that I had to kick when we move in together? Leaving the bathroom door open and completely rearranging the furniture every 2-3 months. The latter drove him absolutely batty when he'd come over while dating, even though it was my place. Hahah.

Amazing! This is such a great trick to know since I buy and sell so many wood pieces.

Your place is so heavenly and completely my taste. Heck, 75% of my booth/storage space/apt is filled with furniture, fans and Pyrex that you have. Your place is my inspiration.

Amazing transformation! Taking a piece that would surely end up in a garbage dump after sitting in the thrift shop for awhile and making it practical and useful again. Kudos!

I used to live in a carriage house. If it looked remotely like any of these, nothing would have made me move. That being said, it was in an unbeatable location at an unbeatable price so lack of aesthetic was forgiven.

Wow, this post couldn't have come at a better time. Husband and I vowed to eat more meatless dishes. I loooooove chickpeas and they're so filling. Last night I cooked this one:

Fantastic! Another one that's a constant standby and one of my favorite recipes ever?

I've got an old dress form in the corner of my bedroom that I love dressing up. It definitely adds some character.

I also have a couple old sewing chairs that I hope to add online later this month. They are so versatile looking that they can easy double as a living or dining room chair to put in the corner. Plus the seat comes up and hides a little storage compartment!

I wish I could do something like that but my husband has vitamins and medicine for every little thing. So many that I feel like he's a pharmacy drug pusher! We have four shopping bags worth in the bedroom closet and that's what I'm stuck with. :-\

To say that I'm slightly obsessed with vintage glassware is putting it mildly. I love these, especially the glassware with red dots.

In regards to the one you labeled Dorothy Thorpe, it's more of a Dorothy Thorpe style/copycat. Her glasses have 1" silver rims. Not to say that these aren't cool; just not DT.

I like it but wish it was contained to one wall only. It seems a bit much.

Funny enough, I just added some vintage metallic wallpaper to my Etsy shop. I'd also limit that one to one wall. :-)

Trunks are so useful! Love this one.

Another idea and what I did with mine... I picked up an old trunk that I intended to resell. Ended up using it for storage b/c I was short on space as well. It was kind of an eyesore, though, so I ended up covering the top with a thick foam and this beautiful nature fabric so it's extra seating.

I am absolutely smitten by the sofa. One day a time will come when I can get something non-microfiber and not worry that it will be destroyed.
