Kelly, you and your partner know what's best for your family and your little one. Heed not the naysayers.
If your design aesthetic runs to the bohemian/avant garde/gypsy-inspired end of the spectrum, putting the bed in a corner could be a way to go. With two headboards, one attached at the head and one on the side near the head against the wall, and then get prolific with the pillows. Lots of texture, varied sizes. You could even drape a canopy over the bed to make it feel more nest-like. This wouldn't entirely solve the problem of seating for guests: you'd likely still need to have several chairs or a shallow chaise lounge, but I think it would make the bed make more visual sense in the space.

This inflatable...thing...was discussed at length on car-seat.org. You can read the discussion here. In short: not safe. Don't use it. As heavy or bulky or inconvenient as proper seats and boosters may seem, our children's lives are well worth it.

A friend of mine has a cooking blog and has featured truffle salt twice, both times with fantastic success. She made Italian Herb bread and a really nifty looking potato pizza.

I'd loved Kinder Eggs (I'm Canadian) since childhood but didn't discover Bueno until I was stuck in an airport in Moscow and had a lot of rubels I wanted to use up before getting on the flight. I ended up buying a handful of them and they kept me happy through the long, long, multiple-flights home.

Never heard of someone actually choking on the toys. Silly rule!

Another idea is to just skip separate bedding altogether. We thought that our daughter would be in a crib after a bedside bassinette, but 2.5 years later she's still in our queen sized bed. We're expecting again this May, and have decided to just upgrade to a king rather than worry about moving either our daughter or this next child into a separate bed. It's space saving and actually really lovely sharing sleeping space with her!
