Plants are a good idea, I need to get a few more that can handle low light.
I can completely relate to the kids, dogs and people that read their books!
I do like a room that has furniture in it that looks like you would want to actually sit on it. It doesn't have to be frumpy, but also, not so design-y that it's all uncomfortable.

So true! They also don't care if they have their own room or if it's got a cute theme (that's for the grown-ups)!
The only thing I would add is some kind of carrier (sling or baby bjorn type) is so handy and was like a 2nd pair of arms.
Used the pack and play all of about 2x for 2 kids. Didn't have a crib for the first child, but had a moses basket.
All they really want is love, food, clean diaper and lots of time with you!

Like the pink and black (before) but not the peach tiles. The "after" feels like a nice hotel to me and I like the sink and shower, but it could use some more personal touches to warm it up. A splash of color? A picture? Some cozy bathmat?

I absolutely love it! Reminds me of my 70s design books like Conran's house book. She did so much with so little space! I'm sure it wasn't cheap, but it looks fantastic.

I work from home 2 days a week. I rarely have the tv on but I will say that I need to make myself close facebook instead.

Nope, I chose B. I think it's my strong bias toward Hans Wegner.

B looks like a Wegner chair, I'll say B.

Great post! I'd love to have room for a dressing table.
Another extinct item is a dry sink. We use one in our son's room for a toy cabinet. I also use a jelly cabinet for canned goods. My parents still use their stereo cabinet, too.

Good idea! I was just thinking about lamp cords. I'm going to do kind of a swag thing over my bed with 2 lamps (on either side), run the cord through chain and cover the shades with Marrimekko fabric. Did you build your shelves? They really look gorgeous!

An antique jelly cabinet (that I've used in the kitchen, dining room and also in my bedroom as a dresser), a Noguchi lamp, some Merimekko throw pillows. Not much, only because most of our furniture is from family or auctions.
I can understand the choices people have talked about here: the chairs, couches, beds. Items you'll have for many years that need to be comfortable.

My parents have had a couple of great faux-Eames lounger chairs and a faux Barcelona chair for ages. They are beautiful and have lasted for at least 30 years. An item can be a repro and still be of good quality. I think of that office chair as a very precise design in engineering, if that makes sense. It's meant to be very comfortable for long periods of work, so I can understand why you would want to make a greater investment in the real deal.

Cabinets are something that come up at auctions in my area. Look for those if you have a big enough vehicle (or could rent/borrow one) to carry them.
That look is a bit eccentric for me. I could see doing all one color but different textures.

I love
The Country Bunny and the Little Gold Shoes with illustrations by Marjorie Flack. I have a copy that's kind of ripped, so I thought I might frame one of them to go over my desk. I've also sold teacher book sized Dick and Jane pages from the 50s (I'm all out) which are sweet.
