Glad I'm not the only one who always thought it was an ink blot/camel.

RAINBOW POTLUCK!

My favorite potluck that I hosted was a "rainbow potluck" where I invited a good sized group of people (about 20 in all) and each person was assigned a color by the first letter of their first name.

A-E Red
F-I Orange
J-M Yellow
N-Q Green
R-U Blue
V-Z Purple

It was a lot of fun, and people who didn't have a first name starting with V, W, X, Y or Z even opted for purple for the challenge. It was a lot of fun and people enjoyed the challenge a lot! They were also encouraged to bring a drink with the color on the label or color of the drink. A well balanced meal is multi-colored as well! Since I was the host I made something with all colors - a totally rockin' salad... next time I'll opt for a salad and that really neat rainbow cake that I keep seeing posted on here.

Funny Fig Story: My husband and I live in rural Mississippi and we were eating Thai food (the only restaurant within 100 miles where I can actually order something vegan off the menu) - this man came in carrying a HUGE basket (2 gallons worth) of figs trying to sell them to the restaurant. Figs aren't a primary ingredient in their kitchen... but this California girl missed them. A lot. So i jumped out of my seat, pulled out $15 and bought the whole lot. Ever since my childhood bus stop was located under a giant Mission fig tree... I was hooked. My husband thought I was crazy. But, if you're reading this kind dreadlocked Barry from New York, the figs were delicious.

I always wear socks with sandals while in a hammock ... Jk. I second the trying of new recipes (we made homemade pasta with different herbs and recipe modifications over the 4th), revamped our screened in porch... And then split a bottle of champagne on our porch and enjoyed the thunderstorms. Good times.

I hate to be a stickler... but it's "Monterey". Great resource and an even more beautiful museum!

A flag on a couch is offensive. Displaying a flag is one thing, but using it as a slipcover... Poorly executed... Is disrespectful (no matter what country the flag represents).

A couple of years ago my parents planted a row of semi-expensive trees in front of their house. Someone came by in the middle of the night and stole them out of the ground! TREES!
