Well done! I'd love to stay.
(I think it's great that the baby gate is up for the shots!)

I'm hosting a potluck tonight and not much gets me (and a lot of people, I think) motivated any better than folks coming over!

Since my kitchen/dining floors are actually large, and quite dirty, I did it yesterday. I'm finishing with the surfaces today. Already feeling better about the place.
Cheers!

So far the frost has been light but I still must get those beets out of the ground soon so: borscht!

Thanks, everyone, for all the ideas. All I was coming up with was melon slices (not to dip, but to go alongside.) I don't even like melon! This has certainly helped, not to mention the quick education in what to expect for a typical fondue. Thank you. :)

Knowing that we all feel a bit more relaxed when it is clean and tidy. And company, of course.

A perfect cleaning schedule? Don't I wish! :)

However, I've managed a few habits that help: All the toys get picked up before the kids go to bath/bed. We have guests weekly so that helps motivate me to at least vacuum and my husband gets stressed out if clutter adds up over time so I've just gotten better at managing/hiding it!

The only scheduled thing I've managed to stick close-ish to is for the tasks that don't require daily, or even weekly attendance but can add up. I write down one task a day on our calendar, things like washing windows, shredding paper, dusting, cleaning out the fridge, mirrors, etc. I don't have to do each task on the day prescribed, just try to get it all done by the month's end. I cross off the day once I'm done and hope to see a full month of x's before I turn the page.

I agree that it's difficult to peel a frozen banana. However, I will defrost them (even a short time in the microwave) and then cut off the top and then squeeze the banana out, like toothpaste. Just another technique if one is interested!

While I understand the waste concerns, sometimes it becomes a balancing of resources. Sure the bags are wasteful, but sometimes the alternative for a busy person/family becomes buying food that is more processed. The process itself contributes to waste as well as its own packaging.
Given that, this method may be a 'lesser of evils.' At any rate, planning ahead is always worthwhile.

I'm a fan of the mason jar method, too.

However, I think I've read/heard that spice quality can be affected by light. If so, this is easily remedied by keeping them in a cupboard, and if you move through certain spices quickly it's a moot point.

Sussu,
Small holders, either attached to the wall or use suction cups that allow the toothbrushes to hang. There is much less space to acquire yucky-ness (and then clean) and still allows the brush to dry.

I think it's already been mentioned, but only plant those veggies you like to eat. Why waste the space/effort/time otherwise?

(But on the other hand, many food banks promote 'grow a row' programs where you can donate produce. Often they will even come and harvest it for you!)

If you're impatient, radishes are great: 3-4 weeks from seed!

Keep records of when/what you planted... especially if you have a partner. Arguing about when you put in the tomatoes last year really isn't fun. ;)

'Tis true about the diapers. We have some flat cotton ones that are still very white and we're on Kid 3.

You can also get the benefit if you put things in a sunny window if you don't want to/can't go outside.
I've also heard that sunshine helps to kill bacteria, too, though I'm not sure where I read that, so take it with a grain of salt!

In the article, Uitto specifically mentions single-use disposable plastics as her primary target, fully recognizing that plastics are important in things like bumpers for cars, for those who are wondering about her approach to those plastics in our lives.
