My suggestions:

1. Pay to have the place re-carpeted in a color you want.

2. Pay to have the existing carpet professionally dyed to a shade you want.

3. Bitch to the landlord this crappy carpet is
over due for replacement as per your area's renter's rights law (hopefully there are some in your area.)

4. Rip it out and risk loosing your deposit.

$750......SCORE!
Years ago bought an Eva Zeisel
Riverside carafe marked $15.00,it was half price day so only paid $7.50 sold to a collector in Japan for $250.......SCORE AGAIN.

Given IKEA'S track record of labor violations in it's South Carolina plant it's best to avoid this retailer until they clean up their business practices. They appear more and more to look upon the USA as a third word country to be exploited for profit. Color IKEA as Walmart with a Swedish accent...

Thanks for NOT mentioning Pasadena City College flea market (my favorite....) or The Long

I would choose a wall color to help soften the look of the cheap looking cabinets and warm it up a bit....perhaps a martini olive green or orange. Also consider a cool MCM stencil pattern on the back splash. Loose the upper cabinet to the right of the window, head to ever affordable IKEA and add open metal shelving or a pot rack. Add some small herb plants in attractive color co-ordinating pots (preferably small and square, also at IKEA) beneath the window. As to window coverings find a suitably colored one and add you stencil pattern from the backsplash border.

for a smooth finish and spray paint....voile!

If you at all DYI enabled you could create a similar look by starting with a basic round mirror and using small found objects hot glued to the outer frame. It could then be spray painted to unify the objects and create a unique frame. Hardware and big box stores are
a great source but also think "outside the box" for interesting shapes and textures.

I have seen this material used in the Phoenix area, especially in Haver tracts. It has been be poorly overused for a quick landscaping effect. If well crafted like the photos, it's quite interesting and effective. But clearly a little of Gabion goes a
long way and makes a large statement.

Big American fridge= big American people. This is a prime reason that obesity is an epidemic in this country especially among children. Fresh fruit can sit out on the counter and is a low cal snack. Fresh vegetables are far more healthy if consumed quickly after purchase. Shop for less more often.....like other industrial nations. No wonder we also are
energy gluttons.

On the refrigerator drawers: check out Consumer Reports' review of them.... NOT RECOMMENDED due to high energy consumption and inconsistent temperature. Also VERY expensive to purchase and not reliable due to high repair rates, most notably Fisher-Pakel.

Duvet covers are a snap to make if you have even the most basic of sewing skills. I often shop white sales, off retail stores (i.e. TJ MAX or Marshalls) for designer flat sheets and sew my own. ALWAYS WASH THE FABRIC BEFORE SEWING. IKEA has great bold prints in their fabric dept. also.
