When we move to a new house with a garden, if it's possible (depending on the plants) we try and take (pieces of our plants) with us to re-plant them again in our new garden. But we have also left plants in a previous garden because we were moving to an apartment with a small balcony. I still think about these plants that I planted in the previous garden and am happy thinking about them continuing to grow in the garden we left behind. It's nice to leave something behind. I would love to see how it all looks now!

I assume the owl is stuffed, right? I mean, not alive? Because I can't imagine any one would want to keep such a big wild animal locked up in such a small cage. That would be like serving a life sentence for the bird and I would find that really offensive. In my opinion, birds have the right to fly free outside with other birds and not live in with humans in modern apartments.

I like the apartment, nice colors. As for organizing the books by color: that looks great but it would not work in our house. We collect books for reading, not for their good looks.

I agree, why not re-using empty jars of marmelade, mayonaise etc? that's what I do as well.

I hope this trend of un-greening gardens stops soon. Years old trees and plants are being removed because the modern idea of a garden is basically a wood or stone terrace. I also prefer wild gardens and lots of green, especially in the cities.

another vote for hardware. it's more practical and looks better. I really like how the kitchen in the house call referred to above looks and it's a similar kitchen.
