I adore Hilda's apartment! I did a post on it a few months back on Alice in Designland. I think her bed throw is my favorite part.

This place is beautiful on so many levels...the stripes, the color, the fixtures, the lamps in the bedroom, and don't get me started on the living and bathrooms. Well executed.

I agree with whomever suggested painting the drawers white, it would make the after even better. However, I also agree that vintage furniture should be preserved, after all we can't produce more it. For painting projects I think vintage pieces that are really suffering should be used. The before here looked like it was in pretty good shape.

I think Morgan did a great job on the sofa. The new fabric is very striking, and I'm really interested to see what she does with the rest of the room.

As for the comments issue that has developed on this post, I have struggled with the same issue as an editor on Alice in Designland. For now I have decided to accept almost all comments whether negative or positive. As someone else pointed out those who contribute to the site have put themselves out there and should understand that not everyone will like their project and that's OK. I do believe however there are limits, and any comment that has a mean spirited tone should be deleted. At the end of the day interior design is art, and by definition has no right or wrong, and I appreciate hearing different reactions to the same rooms to remind me of this fact.

The chandelier in the livid room is fab. Also really like the mixture of textures.

I really like this DIY. I posted it to Alice in Designland last week. To me the great part is that not only does it look great but it only costed Susan 9 bucks!

I ran across this same issue when decorating my bedroom and ultimately decided too much symmetry is boring. Some people really hated my decision. But I'm happy with my transformation http://www.aliceindesignland.com/blog/before-after-my-bedroom.html

This place is sophisticated, yet comfortable. I think the large dining room chairs are gorgeous, but to me the DCM chairs are out of place. The size of the table and the other chairs dwarfs them and makes them look awkward. I would also change the curtains in the room with the striped wall to ones that are a little bit more formal. But in general this place is awesome!

I'm sure all this scrutiny must be difficult for Dan. I for one know how challenging it can be to listen to everyone's opinion on something as personal as your home.

I really like your after. The lighting and paint make a world of difference. Though most would probably disagree, I think the blanket clashes with your rug. Also I was wondering what happened to the ethnic piece of artwork that used to be above your desk? I loved that thing!
