If my mom wants me to look at something on a website, instead of just sending me the URL, she copies the entire page and pastes it into an email. Drives me crazy. When I tell her to just email the URL, her response "I thought that's what I was doing"
Gotta love 'em

I have the same problem! I've started doing a couple things that help-
1. Keep the fan over your stove on high the whole time your prepping and cooking.
2. cook with lids whenever possible
3. clean up right away! put away leftovers and wash dishes etc
4. clean your stove after it has cooled and wipe down all kitchen surfaces
5. take out the trash... theres always something lingering that will eventually make you despise whatever it was that you cooked.
6. to top it off after dinner I'll leave a "clean" smelling candle burning on my counter for a few hours (something light and fresh, like a clean linen scent or something similar)

The only time none of this helped was when we made latkes for Passover- that smell lasted for weeks.

TDS7- I've never done it with zucchini, but I often make a quick bread with grilled pumpkin and/or grilled acorn squash. I slice it up, grill it and then puree most of it...some i leave and chop finely to give the bread a bit of texture. usually sprinkle toasted pumpkin seeds on the top about 20 minutes into baking. I experiment with it a lot... had success with molasses, not so much success with honey etc. So I say try it with zucchini and let us know how it goes!

baked sweet potatoes are my new fave. I just microwave them for a few minutes and then stick them in the oven wrapped in foil to finish them off. top with butter, cinnamon and brown sugar for a more "traditional" sweet potato flavor combination or (my personal favorite) plain greek yogurt, chili powder, garlic powder and green onions.
Barely has also become a staple in our house.. takes a while to cook, but its filling and delicious and pretty plain so you can literally put anything on it.

my two biggest "I'm an adult now" realizations:

Learn to be grateful regardless of the situation.

Not needing to rely/depend on anyone does not mean that you can't or shouldn't lean on someone who tries to share their life with you. - Just because we can do it all by ourselves, does not always mean we have to.

I've found a honey and vinegar mixture works best in a jar with a piece of saran wrap secured to the top with a couple small holes poked in it. If you have a bowl of fruit or something on the counter that seems the be the source of your woes, put the jar about a foot from the bowl on the counter.

Poor kid. This makes me terribly sad. I hope these comments knock a bit of sense into these parents and whoever at Apartment Therapy "Ok-ed" this to be qualified as "Small/Cool" there is nothing cool about this. I'd enter this to Child Services... not a design competition.

PB&J on whatever i have-rarely it's bread- A tortilla is the usual suspect. My roommate (who is Jewish) has recently stocked up on Matzos, so currently that's my PB&J vehicle of choice when in a bind.

As I pulled open my drawer to take a look at the stash that has built up it occurred to me I really need to split the contents into two drawers... As my food/tea is starting to smell and taste like dryer sheets .
My contents:
Dryer sheets (for those static cling emergencies that Chicago's dry winters are so good at producing)
hair brush
hair clip
lotion
spice chai tea
mango black tea
ginger and pear white tea
a bowl
2 mugs (one for coffee, one for tea- even though i wash them both daily i like to keep things separate)
spoon, fork and a whole stash of napkins
Quaker oatmeal packets
almonds
cough drops
and straws

romancandles- Don't feel too disorganized! I'm right there with you, I sneak bites of yogurt and granola with my left hand as I'm blow drying my hair and putting on makeup with my right hand- needless to say I probably end up with hair in my breakfast more than I care to think about.
