My wife and in-laws swear by the popcorn trick.

While my parents stuffed chopsticks into my fingers when I was quite young at the various Chinese, Japanese, and Korean places we ate and I finally just got it, her parents took a more instructive, and less messy, route.

The popped bowls of popcorn and gave them chopsticks to practice. The swear by the technique.

Either way, we're both pretty handy with them.

I love, Love, LOVE Into the Wind. They have something for everyone and aren't afraid to recommend a cheaper product over a more expensive one. You can tell they are mostly concerned with furthering the hobby of, and a general passion for, kites.

I had a stand across from a busy Lafayette, IN, public pool that didn't have concessions when I was in third or fourth grade. My friend and I pulled the whole thing together and set up using a cooler, a wagon, two folding chairs and an umbrella.

Selling cups at 50 cents a piece, we cleared a couple of hundred dollars for the day's work.

Not bad at all.

We have the frog after planning on getting the penguin (I do a lot of Linux work and its their mascot). We heard from others, however, that the penguin leaked.

The frog works wonderfully and my son loves it. It is also very quiet.

This is a bit rude, but I developed an easy mnemonic for remembering which plastics are generally agreed upon to be safe and which are not.

With either hand, flip the bird.

Now count starting from either your pinkie or your thumb. All the fingers that are folded in are safe, your middle finger (number 3) is the bad one, plus anything else that doesn't appear on a five fingered hand.

Sorry for the rudeness, but it helps me whenever I am at the store trying to figure which ones are safe.

This looks awesome!

One concern I have, as I do with all cloth/fabric based closet organizers, is whether the floors of the "shelves" hold up over time.

We've had a few that weren't very sturdy and the "shelves" started to bow downward after a while.

Pelicolina-

Our son did the same thing. My wife reviewed these and while we liked them and thought they would work for older children, our's was too interested in ripping the bib off.

However, in the process of reviewing these (http://babytoolkit.blogspot.com/2007/03/hang-on-soupy-kipiis-bib-clips-portable.html) , we found that a tea towel on one of those elastic clips used to attach mittens to jackets help on a lot tighter.

Don't get me wrong, the Kipiis have a wonderful appearance and definitely have a fun factor that I think older kids would enjoy. Our son, like yours, just loved to thwart our efforts to successfully use them. Maybe when we'll try again when he get's older.

There are so many good things. I love watching him start to make the connections about the power of language. When I heard him say "Puhleesh" when he wanted something unprompted and we rewarded the request with the object, the look of amazement on his face will stay with me forever. I will never forget his first laugh, when we realized that he was very ticklish. He startled himself with the sound that he made and then, after a beat, laughed at that. I love holding his hand, now that he is just tall enough, and going on little walks. As we set out further from home, watching him take in the world; doing the toddler squat to inspect things up close; running his tiny hand along the top of a low stone wall; touching the various prickly evergreen bushes and comparing how they feel... all of it is wonderful to behold. The BEST thing, however, has to be the squeal of joy he lets out and the racing around that he does when we reunite after I have been away for a while (coming home from work or even just a long errand)... it's magical.

The other thing, if you're lucky to have had good parents, is realizing what their love for you really was all about. I feel closer to my dad now that I am a father.

The worst thing is the worry. The emergency room visits in the middle of the night; any "non standard" medical test; a brush with a tornado. At those points, you are almost too scared to breath, but you have to. You soldier on and do the right thing, because that's your job... but it doesn't make it even a little bit easier.

Another great feature of the Munchkin Safety duck, our boy loves his as well, is that it has NO openings and thus doesn't get mold inside.

Pretty gross.

It has about the same level class as the Butt/Face Towel
