What a timely article! I was just confessing to an officemate of mine how I fear I'm becoming a DIY Hoarder with my amazing CL finds. But we figured out that it was more of an issue of TIME vs. actual hoarding sickness as I could still move my CL finds around the apartment in a usable space. Now I just have to work on my time management skills (or quit my job and blog about it for money lol).

Hmmm... are the legs hollow? Can you perhaps get some cool "feet" for them? Or perhaps paint the legs and make nice tailored slip covers? Here's a really "out there" suggestion... you can perhaps weave something on the 4 bars in the center of the back to make it a softer back? T-shirt yarn? Or Rope?

I recently read an e-book about yurt life / building from a young couple that moved to VA from NYC. Here's the link to the book (https://blue-yurt.chargify.com/h/104950/subscriptions/new) and here's a link to their really cute blog (http://www.fromcitytofarm.com/) -- ENJOY!

QUESTION: What about those of us who have a decent-sized space and high ceilings, BUT...there is molding everywhere? There are large squares around the room and some narrow rectangles near & between the windows -- AND a line around the room approx 1.5 - 2' down from the ceiling. My guess is to hang the rods from just below this molding line as the wide molding window frames almost meet the molding line near the ceiling.

I've seen it work as a marriage of two ideas...

Yes, the child is part of a household and there are age-appropriate chores to do. They will always get a fixed amount for doing them all, but they will get docked privileges (or money) if they are not done or if they act inappropriately. If they went beyond the chores, then they were not given more money, but they did earn more privileges. Every kid I know that's followed that "allowance" plan has turned out pretty well.

I recently took a glass blowing class in Seattle, WA and it was AWESOME!! It was 4 hours with my best friend and a hottie instructor and we made some very pretty pieces -- 2 nesting bowls, a paperweight and a little tiny crystal ball (OK this is the nerd in me) and then the dude made this amazing little glass horse, which was a tool cleaning trick done in Italy since the craft began (practically). Best 4 hours I've spent in a long while.

I actually LOVED having a front yard at my parents' home in NJ. It was where we sat and played with the dog, took pictures for halloween and other events, built snowmen & had cocoa, talked to neighbors, etc. Our backyard was for quiet time or intimate dinners with the family, tanning, etc. I'm not one for fussy front yards though, but a nice lawn of grass, a tree and some bushes is kinda nice to have. Maybe it's because I grew up in NYC and it was a nice luxury to feel the grass between my toes and have a nicer place to congregate with neighbors and friends.
