I've read that neem oil spray does the trick. Also, someone advised me that watering my plants from the bottom (allowing the plants to soak up water) would prevent pests. I haven't tried either, however, so not sure how well they work.

How do you deal with cleaning your West Elm cable rug? I had the same one in my living room, but between the endless shedding and dinginess from foot traffic, I had to get rid of it. Vacuuming did nothing for it.

If you have access to Ikea, I would suggest checking out their stainless steel kitchen shelving. It's inexpensive, easy to install, and looks very polished.

I'm not seeing what so many people love about this house tour. It's so busy and gaudy.

Love your place! I don't at all get the feeling of coldness like others have commented. To me, the openness, light, and lack of clutter feel delightfully comfortable. Love your use of the 40/4 chairs in the dining room--I've been contemplating doing this myself. Great use of textural elements. Cheers!
