This bathroom is just beautiful--a perfect balance between vintage and lovingly updated. I'm so jealous!

Now we need a post with dogs + kids. We're finding it very challenging to find an apartment that will allow both. I think this is really a shame, because we find that dogs really enjoy kids and vice versa.

Love, love, love this. Considering leaving my husband and kids to become a groupie.

Such a lovely apartment! The suzani is especially beautiful. Like many other posters, I also love the colors and how you have mixed shades of color and time periods of furniture.

Also, as someone who is also pretty girly, I guess, in that I love pale shades of blue, florals, plants, etc. and who is married to a man, I feel the need to defend Maddy. My husband loves living in the environment that I, mostly, put together, I think, because he loves the idea of living with a woman. I also have three sons and they have never had any complaints about pretty prints or pale colors. Actually, they all love it when I bring in flowers and my middle son asked me, in a concerned way, this spring, when are you going to start the garden? (We had recently moved to a place with a much smaller space for gardening.)

Not to harp on this, but I have never heard that a couple's bedroom is 'supposed' to be gender neutral either. I think a lot of men would think it somewhat romantic to sleep in a 'lady's boudoir'.

My older sons are 13 and 9 and still LOVE their Legos. Over the years we have tried most of the methods for organization described and they have all worked okay, but as our collection has grown to mammoth proportions, we now use a combination.

We have some of the Legos stored in clear plastic drawer sets from Target. These are ugly, but the kids like to be able to see through the drawers and they're pretty easy to hide in a closet. We also have a bunch of pieces in large plastic Ikea tubs, the ones that are designed to slide under a bed. The kids like this method because the tubs are shallow and they can dig through them pretty easily. They slide them under the beds as needed.

Finally they have smaller boxes that fit into their Expedit bookcase and a kind of small plastic lego briefcase that they fit keep their newest/more unusual pieces in. We recently tried to commit to sorting (hence the drawer units), but after lots of tears and tedious afternoons, finally gave up and pretty much went back to having all the pieces mixed together with little rhyme or reason.

Wow, this is funny--I have many of these 'desk accessories' and they do come in handy.

My son loves to play with his "babies" also and I was able to make him a bed for them out of the top of a broken picnic basket (it's the kind that's shaped like a suitcase). The deeper side became a dog bed.

I bet Erin's son loves rocking his babies, though. As a mother of three sons, I'm continually annoyed by how pink everything having to do with doll play is.

Actually, I teach at a private school here in Texas where the art room used to be in a quonset hut, built in the 70's. I asked to have a more traditional classroom because the quonset hut is very musty and has terrible lighting. It's not hot, though. It just has a window ac unit and it stays very cool.

It's so hard to choose! I love Horizon 9 and 10. I guess since I have to choose one, I would pick Horizon 9. They would look so good in my living room--and my three kids, three dogs, 1 cat, 1 bird, three chickens, and lizard plus my husband would be so happy. (How can you disappoint all of these living creatures?)
