I think the color matters less than the accessories. My daughter's room is painted pale aqua, and we've decorated with a garden "theme" - flowers and butterflies. For a stereotypical boy "theme", pale aqua could be a great backdrop for a aviation theme - planes and clouds. Or for gender-neutral, an aquarium theme. Paint now, buy accessories later. I have a microplane and this zester - I find that the zester's long curls get tangled up and clump together when mixed into a salad dressing or batter - the microplane is better for that zest application. I think I'd go for red, since it would be easy to find in the car trunk, messy living room, closet, etc. This is my first baby so I can't think of everything that would go inside, but I'm guessing wipes, a spare outfit, blanket, hand sanitizer, snack (for me!), and an umbrella.
