annieoneil, "there are many things you can worry about if you choose to" is going to be the quote that gets me through the day. How smart.

I've actually felt better about my situation living next to a hateful, spiteful neighbor by sitting on my front steps and seeing other people in my neighborhood pass by and exchange niceties or just a smile. Sometimes being in my backyard limits me to their white trash yelling and nosiness, and that makes me feel like moving, but being in the front opens me up to the "bigger picture", and helps me realize that not everyone is so negative.

Love the scorch marks on the rope and the potential for hot wax to drip all over the succulents. Brillant.

Like the look, but unfortunately, it's ruined as soon as personal items that don't match are added, you take your hoodie off and lay it down, put your NOT black, white, or grey bag somewhere, books and magazines, etc... It just looks good when it's pristine and perfect. God forbid my dog has the wrong color fur...

Oh my. I just got 500 ideas from her website 79 ideas. She is kind enough to link to other inspirational sites, and now I'm overwhelmed. Ok. One project at a time. Breathe.

I appreciate all the effort and doing it the "right" way by asking wood experts for the best products, I just would have liked to see a lighter finished top, less dark brown. That's just my initial reaction. Enjoy your owl, it's a one of a kind!

"Shabby chic" is not what comes to mind, that's a little feminine and crafty sounding. You guys did a great job, and I'm sure you will add to it and it will slowly evolve over time now that you've developed an eye for upcycling materials. I hope your backs are okay, that looks like it involved some heavy labor! Fantastic, enjoy!

Beautiful, but if you're going to cut holes all over the crates, why bother using wine crates, which are sought after for their logos and labels and designs on the sides? I must be missing something.

Wonderful. If I lived next door as a child, I would be constantly making up excuses to come over and hang out with your pets as I gazed at all of the curious collections. I would do this also as an adult, but maybe I'd have a better chance at coming in if I was too adorable to shoo away.....
I'm wondering what was done with the dark grey walls in the bathroom for them to have that fantastic texture and tone.

Maybe start with a birdhouse roof, and see how that goes. By the way, what about the goats that are supposed to go up there and keep everything from getting too overgrown? Seriously, google "goats on a roof", and lets take this project up a notch...

Kudos to Bethany Nauert for a spectacular photography job, and presenting this interesting and inviting home in a professional way. It really makes a difference in the viewers enjoyment of a house tour to have it shown with skill, and I thought I should mention that since I've been irritated when the house tour pics have been less than enjoyable, so THANK YOU Bethany!!!
