We had the Togo couch when I was a kid, and when friends would come over, we'd move it around for sleepovers, drag pieces around the house...it's light and unbelievably easy to move. The couch is also super comfortable.

The Grand Bazaar in Istanbul is pretty cool. If you have a lot of money, you could go crazy. It's pretty easy to get good deals on things. We left with lots of things including a blown glass lamp and many unique pillow cases made from antique material for great deals.

The Antique Market in Paris is pretty amazing as well.

We went to the House Cafe in the Ortakoy area of Istanbul just a few weeks ago. Loved the decor -- such a great mix of modern and rustic. I definitely got a lot of inspiration. Check out pics: http://gobblegobble.posterous.com/the-house-cafe-2

the pillows are available on target's website, so if you don't have a target nearby, it's easy enough to order them online.

We have an extra room that will eventually be a nursery. We are using it as a guest room for now, but I wanted to paint and decorate it only once. We painted the walls a kind of darker concrete gray - everything else in the room is black, white and yellow. Once we get pregnant, I will probably do either a white or yellow crib, and do white/black/yellow bedding. Accents in the room are bright yellow and white to contrast against the darker gray wall. Hopefully once we are pregnant, and it is set up more as a nursery, I will post some pics. But we are planning to bring any colors (besides yellow) in with all the kid stuff -- toys, books, etc.

This hotel is amazing, and their restaurant, The Urban Farmer, is fantastic. Visited while I was there for a wedding this past summer. If you are going to Portland, definitely go eat there! At the very least, go check out The Nines' lobby.

it's definitely an ikea chair, but not sure if it's still for sale. it's super comfortable. the side table from ikea is $12.99 if my memory serves correctly. they stack, and are easy to put together. I have a bunch of them in the house, they are awesome.

Those Orla Kiely canisters were on sale at our Target a few months ago and I bought 3 of them. I thought it was excessive, but now I'm wishing I got all of them!

I had a kid size version of those chairs that I used until I outgrew it. Even though some of the cane part has been damaged from 15 years of use between me and my sister, my mom has held onto them. She wants to get them re-caned so I can (one day) have my children use them.

I was lucky to grow up in a very modern house. We had the Ligne Roset togo couch in the living room, an arc lamp, barcelona chairs to name a few...my dad was an architect and very into design. I never realized how "in" he was because all my friends parents furnished their suburban houses with ugly overstuffed furniture with no design elements. Now I wish I could steal everything out of their house!

this light from cb2 is pretty great: http://www.cb2.com/family.aspx?c=120&f=4694&viewall=1
it's simple, but big. I saw it in the store and it makes much more of an impression when you see it in person.

My parents bought this couch in 1985, and I also wanted to buy one for myself (fortunately for my parents, the price was much less in 1985, and they were able to also use a design discount).

The couch is extremely comfortable to lay on, in fact, I used to have slumber parties on it as a kid, and me and my friends would prefer to sleep on that than in my room. The couch lasted for about 22 years (we had camel color leather), and the only reason that some of the pieces started falling apart a little was because we had a dog for the about 14 of those 22 years.

I have always loved this couch, and would highly recommend buying it. I would point you towards a leather version because it would probably last a little longer than some of the other materials.

I used a very similar color in our basement. The one I used was by Benjamin Moore called Lakeside Cabin Blue.

I made that gray on gray hat with the white and orange patch on it for our client, Truth (American Legacy Foundation) back in '05. Funny to see it on someone's shelf over 3 years later.

You definitely need some sort of chandelier or pendant light. Color is extremely necessary. Maybe do Vertical stripes with silver and white, or two monochromatic colors, and you could always paint the front door a bright color to contrast. Something needs to go on the wall as well.

Also, it looks like that scarf on the door is to maybe add privacy to the window. I would get something that looks a little bit cleaner to cover the window, whether something that you hang on it, or even some sort of frosted film to go on it so it still lets light in, but gives you privacy.

I agree with all the comments. everything is put together so well. It's colorful in its own ways without being too much. I'm keeping these pics as an inspiration for my own house. And your dogs are adorable.

I agree. The fireplace facade is a really unique way of recycling something old. The colors work really well together. There's something very comfortable about it, and it's nice that everything isn't overdone.
