That rocker needs to be replaced...or moved to another area if you're attached to it. It makes the living room look too crowded, and looks as if you can barely get to the couch.

You should definitely get pillow covers for your pillows to brighten the couch up (which is lovely, by the way). Preferably lighter colored covers. Everything is so dark, and you need something to balance out the white coffee table.

You should also put some decor on the coffee table. It looks too bare!

I don't agree. The whole mirror thing along the stairwell seems very grandma to me and creeps me out. I would never survive walking up the stairs at night in the dark.

THE FACE VASE:

I found both the black and white one at HomeGoods and TJ Maxx the week before Thanksgiving...they were 16 bucks each.

Firstly...you should definitely get rid of the rugs on the wall! Bleh!

2ndly, if you're allowed to paint, definitely paint the walls. I think what would look REALLY lovely is a navy blue or a taupe, in a eggshell finish. This would look great if you replace the pendant light with a tiny chandelier or pendant piece. Shouldn't be too hard to do.

I would put something on the right wall, such as a comfortable long bench with a large piece of artwork above it, or perhaps something similar to this: http://www.potterybarn.com/products/p11970/index.cfm?pkey=call-entryway

or this (inside the red box): http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=11vlj4x&s=4

You should also hang some lovely artwork in place of the mirror and console.

As for the nook, I think what would look really neat is if you could find some chunky floating shelves that would fit the space (i.e. west elm), build a "bookcase" with three shelves, and display some beautiful vases.

I got bored at work and decorated your room. The curtains are ikea fabric with a black curtain rod (I think it matches your bedspread quite nicely), and the walls are a sage green. I drew floating shelves above the doors, and then maybe you could display pictures or whatever you have in mind on it (I just copy and pasted some picture frames to put on the shelves), and then placed 2 malma mirrors between the two closet doors.

I think it looks fine w/white doors...what about you?

Oh my gosh, these are truly gorgeous! I was fooled for a second and thought they were real trees from a window. Ha. I want!

I saw an awesome one at West Elm that looks like part of a tree trunk. I can't find it on the website, but it looks like the picture in the link...just concave on the inside to put trinkets in it:

I don't know...painting it is going to make the item look really cheap in my opinion. Why not think about staining it instead and changing the hardware?

First, your dining area is REALLY nice!!!

I think both linear AND circular would look great with this table.

How about something like these:

yes, definitely paint the wall/window trimming white. it would look so much better.

i think you should get rid of the rug underneath your sectional and choose a lighter/bright color along with the pillows on your couch. it's just too dark in my opinion, especially if you want to brighten things up.

I'm going to have to agree with rhiana with this one. I think painting the barbie-pink walls a more neutral/earthy color will look better with your couch. The pink you chose is just so overwhelming.

Then I suggest you accessorize the heck out of that room with different shades of pink if you still want pink in the room.

It's always best to have safe-colored furniture so you can use them over the years, and fun-colored accessories to tie the room together.

I JUST saw an HGTV show called Myles of Style, and she tackled the same issue the home owners had with their master bedroom's arched windows.

Unfortunately I cannot find pictures online of a before and after, but if you click on this link ( http://img.hgtv.com/HGTV/2008/05/08/hmofs109-water-feature_w609.jpg ) you will see a wood bamboo panel on the left of the picture. Basically what she did was make sliding panels for each window (and tracked it on the top of each wall) to dress the windows, which could be to the side of each window if they wanted light in the room, or over each window for when they were sleeping.

It looked really pretty and balanced the room well, as well as the shape of the windows. Maybe you should try something similar with curtain panels.

You should try and watch HGTV! haha :)

But seriously, how about just rearranging the entire apartment?? Not sure if this is really your style or not, but maybe you can make the fireplace as a focal point, put your couch/chair/coffee table in that area. Then you could move the office area closer to the window or the wall opposite of where it's at.

But it's really hard to tell since there isn't a floor plan or more pictures of the space to see what you can really work with
