Jessica-how much sugar is in your recipe? Not enough & you get an icy product. Too much & it never freezes.

Apartment Therapy The Kitchen | Good Question: How Can I Make Creamier Ice Cream?

I would make a big batch of lemon curd and then eat it with a spoon! Or spread on scones warm from the oven (I always have unbaked scones in my freezer I can bake at a moment's notice).

Or a big jar of lemon dijon vinaigrette to keep in the frig. I eat salads every day and like to have a basic vin I can change up as it suits me (add herbs, blue cheese crumbles, etc).

Preserved lemons.

Or you could give them to me!

I have tried both. The IKEA syrup, is exactly that--a syrup. *Very* sweet, but lovely & floral. The St. Germain is more delicate, floral and quite delicious.

But, you can't always drink alcohol & the IKEA is a great substitute. I like it in Pellegrino. The St Germain, I add to Prosecco or Cava (I would never add it to an expensive Champagne or sparkling wine).

I also used the IKEA syrup to brush on a vanilla bean genoise, filled with mascarpone custard & covered in whipped cream and fresh coconut shavings. It was delish and had that "je ne sais quoi".

In fact, I currently have both in my frig. Maybe I should go do another taste test now? :)

Mirepoix is pronounced as a 2 syllable word.

mihr-PWAH

Also, the diced vegetables are sauteed in butter. (The most important part!)

i am smoking some chicken thighs with my stovetop smoker and caramelizing onions to make filling for some phyllo bundles for a catering gig this weekend. then some empanaditas with black beans and plantains. again, more catering prep. i rarely cook for myself anymore!! well, other than omelets & lots of salads, i don't cook. oh yes--i do cook a lot of bacon. one can never have enough :)

thinkingwoman---what shape pasta? orecchiette with sausage is delish and classic. maybe add some lemon juice/zest to brighten things up a bit. and a whole bunch of flat leaf parsley. yum.

pixie--oil will work just fine, the popovers just won't have the rich taste of butter.
