Looks like a lot of wasted space and materials to me. Plus the unfinished plywood pieces are going to be worn out very quickly.

Open space plans can be very successful if done right. You need to offer spaces were employees can get out of chairs and collaborate as a team. If you're concerned about noise and privacy you offer phone rooms for employees to take private calls.

I've worked in a very open workspace for a number of years and noise is rarely an issue because of a common respect by everyone. The biggest issue is keeping the office clean and tidy since you can't hide everything behind a cubicle. Whenever I give friends a tour of our office they're always jealous as to how casual and friendly the space feels. Plus, no tall cubicles means that more people get more natural light which is always a good thing.

I usually try and stray away from the couple's gift registery only because I like challenge myself to find them something cooler or more personal. In the past I've given everything from a Wine of the Month club membership to a charity donation in the couple's name. Both of these things can be done online and even an hour before the wedding.

My partner and I got into our biggest fight, more of a disagreement, in Ikea over potted plants in the apartment. He argued that every plant he's ever owned has died and I just really wanted to warm the place up. I finally got him to cave in on the plants but they are totally my responsibility. I'm proud to report that at least 9 months later, the plants and our relationship are still alive, and we continue to laugh about our argument in the middle of Ikea.

If you're going to order flowers over the internet, I would recommend finding local florists that are close to the recipients address. This cuts down on the carbon emissions to get the flowers delivered and usually means that you won't have to pay extra to have them delivered the next day. Plus, if the recipient loves the flower arrangement, you may have just introduced them to their new favorite florist.

I just went through the experience of buying Flor tiles to make a runner at home. I would definitely recommend ordering carpet samples ($1 per sample) before placing a big oder. I found the texture and colors of the Flor tiles to be completely different from pictures and descriptions on their website. Overall we're very happy with the ones we bought, but it took a lot of buying and returning before we realized that the samples were the best way to go. Live and learn.

The place looks amazing; what a great use of the space! Although, I'm a bit confused why you have two islands in the kitchen and at two different heights. I realize one is used for seating, but why not combine it all in one?

My partner fought me for the longest time about my idea of putting some nice potted plants above our fridge. We have zero greenery in our apartment so I thought it was the perfect place for some plants. He finally gave in and has since acknowledged that he was wrong. Maybe it's a combination of the fun Ikea pots or low up keep plants we bought, either way it added a nice organic quality to our place.
