Funny, over here (Germany) I usually buy my amaranth popped - right along with granola or mixed in already. I like it because you can get it unsweetened. Love this recipe though and will have to give it a try!

As so many I didn't get everything done (a weekend to myself to deep clean the kitchen? I wish!) but I loved The Cure and did get a lot done. We had a party yesterday and while I did find myself prepping for the party for three days straight only to clean up again today, it was so worth it and so much fun. Also The Cure just changes your mindset and makes it easier to just clean and organize things as you go or whenever you have half an hour, instead of just putting it off or getting used to it. Right in the middle of baking two cakes for the party I reoganized my baking cabinet while one cake was in the oven. Feels so good to accomplish even the little things!

Thank you Janel and AT, this has been a lot of work but at least for me so much better than the previous mini-Cures. Can't wait to do this again later this year! Still a lot of things to finish, but they'll get done in time.

One of my favorite Cure posts, actually. I feel the same thing - the Cure has a way of making you finally see those things you've just been ignoring or living with and forces you to really make the most of what you have instead of just taking the easy way out and buy something.

Love this idea and filing it for future reference! I'm not an invitation designer, but I do love the terrarium idea.

OK, after last weekend's totally overwhelming assignment (did anyone really get their entire kitchen deep cleaned and organized in one weekend? If so, do you also have a kids and a job? What's your secret???), this one wasn't so bad.

Still got some laundry to do, but the bedroom is clean. I did not sort my closet yet, but it's in fairly good shape. Instead I chose to purge and organize the kids' closets yesterday - they've both apparently grown overnight, so that was way more urgent. Not only do they now contain only clothing that fits, I also know what they're going to need for the summer and for the next winter, so I already got the few winter things we needed on sale in the next size up. Feels good to be prepared...

Flowers were a challenge with the cold and snow here, but I did manage to pick up some lovely tulips and they brighten my dining room table.

Also managed to work on my project for the month and made a trip to Ikea today. Landing strip only needed some reorganizing and cleaning, but all books I managed to purge were my cookbooks, and I never managed the media fast. Oh and the kitchen... Did get the fridge done, but all cabinets? That takes weeks, as there is no way to take an entire weekend off for that.

But I do find that even if I don't manage to do every task, the Cure does change my mindset and I take small steps every day, declutter or clean something here and there, simply because I become so much more sensitive to these things.

Marshmallows! You need a heat resistant bowl - perfect for your KitchenAid... Maybe as a sweet treat for Valentine's?

Slipcovers on my dining room chairs - some get washed, the ones that are too scratched (three cats who mistake chairs for scratching posts) exchanged for spare ones, and maybe I'll go buy one new as a treat at the end of the month... Ultimately, the chairs will need to be replaced, but that is long-term...

Oh, and I need to declutter my entryway, but I've already started so the rest can be done through the usual clean-up.

Day 5: Select One Project from Your List to Complete this Month Apartment Therapy January Cure

Funny I just came across two tiny pots of bulbs just about to bloom while grocery shopping yesterday. One is sitting on my dining room table in a recycled pickle jar with some soft felt wool wrapped around, and the other one came with a tiny pail and sits in front of my kitchen window. My cats throw over every vase but they're not interested in the bulbs at all (they also don't eat orchids btw).

Also did quite some cleaning today, including floors (three cats and two small kids - I could deep clean my floors daily and they'd still be sticky. Sigh.)

Since I'm a little bit ahead here being in Europe I don't always catch the daily assignments before the kids are in bed and I'm too tired to get much done... I didn't yet set up an outbox for the cure, but I'll do that over the weekend and also try to get quite some things added to it.

Jennifer, so nice to see your party here! Everyone, you have to click over to her blog to see more, she did a wonderful job. A lot of what she did served as inspiration for our dog party, and I have a kitty party planned for the future.

I'm German, so it's got to be pudding for me. Much faster, too. And I love my grandmas's pudding buttercream, much less sweet than the confectioner's sugar + butter version...

I love this, it's gorgeous, unique, well thought out and it's still real and lived-in, complete with post-its in cookbooks and those plastic kid's cups. Very well done! Oh, and the bar/coffee corner is fabulous. It's always great when a kitchen is designed around what the owners truly love and not some standard model. Very nice!

I use mine all the time - but then again, I live in Germany... Love it for chicken, it makes a sauce, too and all I need to do is mashed potatoes. Yum.

love it! Just writing a post about it, actually :)

Used low-fat jogurt, added some lemon zest but only minor changes. I call it the disappearing cake because a day later, not much is left.

Perfect consistency here and so easy to make.

Many thanks, Faith, this one's a keeper!
