Lots of possibilities.

You could have it function asa gallery space. Art on both sides.

Or tall bookcases on the side with the pipe, covering the whole wall.

You could fit a desk in there as well.

Maybe it's just me but the words "grown up" and mandatory party shots as you come in the door don't seem to go together.

Tee-bone

I'd suggest just cutting this recipe in half. Use a 14.5 ounce can of tomatoes instead of the big one. Keep the oil for browning about the same. Start it in a Dutch oven if you have one. I'd drop the oven temp to around 275-300 instead of 325.

Eat what you want and then either freeze the other half or keep in the fridge and use the meat in another dish within a couple of days. It would be good as a pasta sauce, sandwiches or even tacos.

Do Not substitute a "nicer" cut of beef, a chuck roast is the perfect cut for this dish. It has plenty of marbling and fat to give it flavor and by brasing it low and slow you are allowing all the connective tissue to dissolve into the meat. since you are shredding the beef when you are finished cooking it you can remove anything that doesn't dissolve. Other cuts like top round or sirloin won't give as good of results with this cooking method.

Bed against the wall in front of the closet, leave a space to open the doors. Table near the fridge wall where you have the sofa in the plan. Then shove everything else in your proposed plan to the sliding door wall.

so you end up with the sofa in the corner where the bed is and the tv on the opposite wall.

whatever you decide to do, live with it for a while before doing anything that's hard to reverse.

My guess is that those cabinets form an appliance garage. That door looks like it flips up instead of a regular hinge. Notice how the pull is in a different spot than the regular uppers.

You'll need to go to a real paint store and ask their advice if you want to DIY this. Skip the big box stores.

The local folks will know your area and the elements and the protocols to follow.

You are looking for a store that specializes in paint, so Sherwin Williams, MAB, Benjamin Moore. It looks like Hirschfields is the BM dealer in your area.

As mentioned you'll need to really get the stuff clean and then probably use an oil based, stain blocking primer, folllowed by your top coat.

The pros will make suggestions on paint and number of coats etc.

@lalalaser - there is a difference between polenta and grits.

Grits are made by grinding up hominy. Hominy is made from corn but it has been soaked in an alkaly solution.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hominy

Polenta is just straight corn meal. Some folks like to use the fine ground size, others like the coarser grinds. You can also use yellow corn meal or white corn meal for polenta.

This is fun........ Look there was a store in NYC that has the exact same photo of your grandmother's dresser. Seems they had it for sale last year along with the mirror, a tall dresser and a side table.

If the post isn't fake, cell phone pics of the real pieces would be infintely preferable to stuff pulled off the internet. Or at least something like " my camera is broken so I got these pics of the interweb" would be nice.

Cream cheese makes a good addition to scrambled eggs.

the easiest method is to sprinkle a few cubes of cream cheese into the cooking eggs. You'll get the eggs plus a melty pockets of cheese when done.

Add your favorite savory ingredients for variety, chopped herbs, smoked salmon or smoked trout, etc

That truly is a glorious bathroom. It is a shame that so often the folks that find vintage and in remarkably good shape don't want it.

You, in reality, only have two choices with this bath. You should either embrace it in all its glory or you should gut it and start over. Anything in between won't turn out satisfactorily. Patch jobs will just be that and look rotten.

Whatever direction you are inclined to go at this time, Don't. Live with the bath for a while the way it is.

Yeah... that $8000 a pop is only for the newer models in pictures 2 and 5. Those seem to be available for 8600 and most places seem to want upwards of a grand for delivery and set up.

the classic Chateau series ones in picture 3 and 4 are probably in the 40K to 50K range. Plus I imagine that the installation in picture 1 is between 75 and 100K including the hood

Instead of using a cloth, just use your hand to spread the mineral oil around. It washes off and more of the oil gets on the board instead of in the cloth.

You can also just use plain old mineral oil instead of anything fancy. Most pharmacies have it. Just don't use an foofd oil that can go rancid.
