Ehhhh, it's not all ducks and bunnies on the other side of the sea. Sure, it's very very nice to walk around the corner every morning to get a fresh baguette and some pastries for breakfast. I do really miss that. But It's not so nice to have to go to five different places to find shampoo, a bottle of Tylenol, and some diapers. And that 4 out of those 5 places are closed because it's a holiday, or it's after 8:00 pm.
I'm sure I would've gotten accustomed to it if I had to live there, but when I got back from our work trip/vacation, all I wanted to do was run into a Target and hug an employee. I'm sure that's going to sound sacrilegious to some of you, but it's the truth.

We have night blooming Jasmine here in South Florida, also known as "galan de noche" and the fragrance is divine. Always reminds me of sitting at the porch at dusk and talking with the family.

A bit too modern for my tastes, but it's very nice nonetheless. I can appreciate the clean lines and lack of clutter. I'm on a major decluttering mission and this apartment just makes me feel like it's completely doable. Kudos to your wife on a job well done!

I'm not from LA. So basically you're saying that in LA they get upset if you build a park as opposed to a parking lot?

Yay! I've been growing weary of all the ultra fancy designed by designers apartments lately. This is just beautiful and so homey.

Can't wait for the full house tour! So light and airy, I just love what I've seen so far.

@sally305- I couldn't agree with you more. I keep on seeing all these tours of grand spaces that are absolutely beautiful, but completely out of reach for most folks living in apartment sized spaces with apartment sized budgets. This is such a welcome reprieve.
It's beautiful but looks very much like somebody's home, not like a stylized layout by some designer.

Oh my god I love the light fixture, but after hearing the price of the rug, I'm afraid to ask.

I hate most 80s stuff, but this doesn't immediately scram 80s to me. It's not overstuffed or peach or aqua colored. It actually looks really comfortable and if you add some nice throw pillows it could work out, IMO.
Bottom line, if YOU like it, get it. Eventually, 80s style will cease to be revolting and you're gonna see everyone on AT raving about late century modern ;-)

Wow, I'm usually not a fan of lofts but this is just so nice. Great job!
