What a great story. We've all been there in one way or another. It's what makes DIY'ers so resourceful. Good luck with the installation.

I am going to echo everyone else. "THIS IS A GREAT POST"! About 4 months ago I started showing up in my own life even if it is only for 15 minutes each day. Journaling including affirmations and gratitude, a creative project, exercising or something fun, I have learned to put myself on top of my "to do" list, allowing me to reconnect with my authentic self. I used a corner of my basement to store my creative supplies for easy access. It brings a smile to my face everyday.

I love the new color. So much more versatile.

Modern vs. comfort is a dilemma I too struggle with. My Petrie sofa from Crate and Barrel looks good but is uncomfortable to sit on. So it rarely gets used.

What a great storage solution. But there's just one thing. I like it with the doors open:) The fabric back, yarns and projects are so colorful and beautiful to look at.

Why not use the same T-cross bracing hardware used on your shelving unit midway down the legs to add the stability you need?

These days, it is rare to find a home that doesn't have a "no shoes" policy. Shoes lined up at the door way is an instant indication of the house rules. If I happen not to see shoes near the doorway, I still ask. I think that should be standard guest etiquette. Perhaps a "no shoes allowed" sign will work for those who somehow overlook a shoe filled entry. I have cushy socks and slippers (nice ones that I buy on sale, especially after the holidays) in a basket at my door and encourage guests to take home. They are always thrilled to leave with a new pair of slippers or comfy socks!

Salivating! I sure wish I would have known about BHV when I was in Paris last summer.
