What a great story. We've all been there in one way or another. It's what makes DIY'ers so resourceful. Good luck with the installation. Winning with a Low-Ball Bid: How I Accidentally Bought a Giant Mantel |

I am going to echo everyone else. "THIS IS A GREAT POST"! About 4 months ago I started showing up in my own life even if it is only for 15 minutes each day. Journaling including affirmations and gratitude, a creative project, exercising or something fun, I have learned to put myself on top of my "to do" list, allowing me to reconnect with my authentic self. I used a corner of my basement to store my creative supplies for easy access. It brings a smile to my face everyday. Using Your Home to Reach Your Dreams |

Modern vs. comfort is a dilemma I too struggle with. My Petrie sofa from Crate and Barrel looks good but is uncomfortable to sit on. So it rarely gets used. Regina's Happy Hodge-Podge Dream Living Room Inspiration |

What a great transformation. A farm table is going to look great in your space. I plan to do my kitchen in the summer again. I have revamped my kitchen through the years as well but it is in need of another makeover. I will probably end of salvaging my cabinets because I am in the midst of other very costly renovations. I love these! I have been wanting to do this on a desk that has been sitting in my garage for months now. Can't find a good assortment of vintage yardsticks to do the job. I was thinking about using flat trim instead but I don't think it will produce the same WOW! factor. Yardsticks: Not Just for Measuring Anymore |

These days, it is rare to find a home that doesn't have a "no shoes" policy. Shoes lined up at the door way is an instant indication of the house rules. If I happen not to see shoes near the doorway, I still ask. I think that should be standard guest etiquette. Perhaps a "no shoes allowed" sign will work for those who somehow overlook a shoe filled entry. I have cushy socks and slippers (nice ones that I buy on sale, especially after the holidays) in a basket at my door and encourage guests to take home. They are always thrilled to leave with a new pair of slippers or comfy socks! Etiquette at Home: Solutions to The Great Shoe Debate |

I missed Trading Spaces so much when it went off the air. It was a show my entire family watched together and I have sons. I always wondered what happened to the designers that no longer were in front of the camera. Enjoyed the update! Trading Spaces: Where Are They Now? |
