Try to find a dealer that is liquidating THUKA - very similar quality as Matrix, but a 1/3 of the price. We've been extremely happy with ours. That said, I found that the low loft level is good for a few months only because the space underneath is somewhat useless. Make sure to buy conversion kit at the same time.

I second the previous poster - $7.99 plan is more than enough viewing for me, even w/o cable TV. no need to spend more hours in front of the tube.

My daughter at 18 months - one minute she was eating her pasta, then next minute, zonked out. https://picasaweb.google.com/megumi.rinaldi/AsleepWhileEating?authkey=Gv1sRgCOrsiPGejdGONw#5628283658778503586

changing table, diaper genie, diaper pail, rocking chair. all you need is the bed, sheets, receiving blankets (the hospital ones are the best b/c they are rectangular and good for swaddling - steal as many as you can when you're there), and those little white outfits, paci, breast (or bottles and formula).

I have one of the heavy duty Blueair filters in my bedroom. It was expensive, but it sure does work! We all have allergies to dust to and pet dander, and it keeps it all at bay. A friend with terrible dog allergies came over once, and so I put the unit right next to her. Her coughing and wheezing were gone in a matter of minutes.

it reminds me of a showroom, like when all the furniture is placed correctly, but they don't really go together.

Location (next to central park in nyc, dog owner), laziness (next to subway, hate to clean), frugality (less space = buy less stuff), financial (going bigger would be doable, but love the lack of financial stress and ability to save more).

Why Do You Live Small?

I'm totally with msmezzo - nyc has some high rents, but this is a bit of a rip-off. I live about 30 blocks north of her, right on the park, and I can tell you there are studios that are a good 5 times larger, but not 5x that price. It takes less than 10 minutes by train for me to get to Lincoln Center. Also, what about getting a roommate? And, if the need is to stay around $700 - most people just opt for a roommate or two and you can live in a decent space in a decent neighborhood - with enough room Also, not sure if the lack of a kitchen is the most economical way to live -- eating out every meal is not inexpensive. But, to each his own. She seems very happy with it, and it seems to work for her!

For the record, a somewhat not-so-nice comment preceding mine (which now has been removed) alluded to something about his/her possession of a PhD and being able to speak 5 languages making the post unnecessary! Anyway, thanks again for the write-up. I really think it's great info to have.
